Network Architect

Scope of the Project
The South Carolina Department of Revenue seeks an experienced Network Architect to lead and support Active Directory infrastructure within secure regulatory frameworks such as PCI, NIST, and PUB1075. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in Active Directory administration, network protocols, group policy management, and cloud components, alongside experience in high-compliance IT environments.
Responsibilities
Administer and maintain internal agency Active Directory, including GPOs, DNS, DHCP, and PKI.
Design and support systems aligned with PCI/NIST/PUB1075 compliance requirements.
Create and manage elevated and managed service accounts/groups.
Collaborate with SCCM and DBA teams to meet infrastructure needs.
Document procedures, update existing documentation, and support audit processes.
Assist in disaster recovery planning and implementation.
Monitor and maintain infrastructure integrity and security.
Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call support schedule.
Required Skills (Ranked by Importance)
Active Directory maintenance and management
Group Policy Object (GPO) creation and updates
Elevated account/service account creation and management
Strong knowledge of networking protocols: TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, MLLP, NDMP, NTP
Documentation and compliance reporting
Familiarity with PCI/NIST/PUB1075 frameworks
Change management practices
Disaster recovery planning and execution
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
Preferred Skills
Server OS hardening on Windows Server 2012/2019
Daily production support and issue resolution
Hybrid cloud infrastructure experience
PowerShell and JSON scripting
Education/Certifications
Required:
Bachelor s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
6+ years of experience in IT systems or infrastructure roles
Preferred:
Industry certifications (MCP, MCSE, Cloud-related certifications)
