Our client is seeking an experienced Routing & Switching Engineer to join their dynamic team. Our client is seeking an experienced Routing & Switching Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role is based in Plano, Texas and/or Redmond, Washington and involves designing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability. The position requires collaboration with various teams to support business objectives and provide technical guidance. With a focus on both project and operational responsibilities, this role is pivotal in enhancing network capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement network architectures that align with business objectives.
- Oversee the deployment and configuration of network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Coordinate with customer stakeholders (SME, Lead, and Managers) to understand network architecture and document it.
- Troubleshoot L2/L3 Level issues, working on high-priority tickets P1/P2, and perform RCA and permanent fixes.
- Hands-on experience with Wireless Cisco, Meraki, and managing P3/P4 tickets, guiding offshore teams.
- Liaison with service providers for link-related services and coordinate with different vendors/OEMs for hardware/software upgrades/replacements.
- Train and provide knowledge transfer to other associates as necessary.
- Monitor and maintain network performance, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of domain experience in network engineering.
- Strong technical skills with a deep understanding of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, etc.).
- Experience with network hardware and software from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, or Arista.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Perl, etc.) and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, etc.).
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Zabbix).
- Strong understanding of network security best practices and network virtualization technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Cisco / Extreme Network equivalent certification preferred (CCNP or CCIE).
Pay Range: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
