Role: Sustainability Strategist/Environmental Policy Consultant
Location: Los Angeles, CA/Sacramento, CA/Washington DC
Duration: 6+ months
Overview: This role seeks an experienced Sustainability Strategist to drive the Client's critical Enterprise & Sustainability Strategic Plan and Equity Strategies Action Plan. The consultant will be responsible for coordinating stakeholders, drafting strategies on climate risk, rate reform, and emerging technologies, and preparing key presentations. Essential requirements include deep expertise in sustainability leadership, environmental justice, policy, and utility benchmarking. The position demands a professional capable of shaping and articulating the Client's commitment to sustainable and equitable operations, with travel required to engage with state and federal entities.
Purpose: To lead the development and delivery of the Client s Enterprise & Sustainability Strategic Plan and the Equity Strategies Action Plan.
Utility experience is a MUST.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate extensively with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including community organizations, to ensure alignment and comprehensive plan development.
  • Draft and formulate advanced strategies addressing critical areas such as climate risk, rate reform, adaptation measures, and the integration of new technologies (e.g., hydrogen, offshore wind).
  • Prepare compelling strategic papers, talking points, and presentations for various audiences, including executive leadership and legislative bodies.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated expertise in sustainability leadership, environmental justice, public policy, and utility benchmarking.
  • Proven ability to translate complex environmental and social objectives into actionable strategic plans.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to Sacramento and Washington D.C. as required to fulfill responsibilities.
