Information Systems Architect - Advanced

Duration of the Contract: 12 Months

Possibility for Extension: Yes

Work Location: 100% Remote

Candidate Location: Must reside within the US for the duration of the contract and be willing to travel to SC as deemed necessary

Experience:

10+ years working with Electronic Health Records (EHR).

5+ years hands-on experience with Nextgen EHR, PM, and EDR.

Nextgen Certification required.

Role Overview

Lead the planning, design, development, and implementation of IT systems and architectures with a focus on Health-IT solutions.

Ensure system designs align with the agency s strategic business objectives and security standards.

Primary systems include Nextgen Healthcare s EHR, PM, EDR, NGShare, NG Mobile, MIRTH, eZmar, and Symmetry.

Act as the expert-level architect for technology strategy, roadmap development, compliance, and adoption of emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the evolution and architecture of the agency s Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.

Work with executive leadership to define technology strategies and roadmaps.

Develop and maintain security architecture and ensure compliance with state/federal standards.

Evaluate and recommend products, vendors, and technologies.

Document policies, processes, and architecture standards; enforce adherence.

Provide strategic guidance in technology committees, change control, and compliance activities.

Stay up to date on market trends and emerging Health-IT technologies.

Daily Duties

Support implementation and ongoing operation of the EHR system.

Collaborate with vendors and staff for EHR build, testing, training, and go-live activities.

Implement interfaces between EHR and external systems (offender management, LIS, PACs, pharmacy, etc.).

Define and build reports from the Nextgen database.

Coordinate with providers and vendors for Health Information Exchange (HIE) participation.

Identify and implement technology solutions to reduce costs and improve care delivery.

Recommend and evaluate hardware/software purchases.

Provide regular status reports to management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor s degree in IT or related field (Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, Networking, Data Processing, etc.).

Technical Expertise:

Proficiency with Nextgen s Template Editor (custom template creation).

Strong knowledge of HIPAA, ICD-9/ICD-10, healthcare data standards, HIE technologies.

Ability to plan, prioritize, and deliver on organizational goals.

Preferred Skills

Experience with HL7 and SQL.

Experience with Crystal Reports.

Knowledge of eMAR, Mirth, PACs, CIPS/Fusion, Merge.

Familiarity with Project Management principles
