Position Overview
As a Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer, you will leverage your deep expertise in z/OS systems to support mission-critical legacy workloads while contributing to modernization initiatives. You will perform high-level administration, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of mainframe systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and secure operations.
You will also collaborate with internal technical teams to support daily mainframe operations, implement improvements, and participate in transformation efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Provide primary support as the subject matter expert for z/OS operating systems and system components.
Lead planning, implementation, upgrades, and testing of z/OS releases, network components, and system software.
Perform day-to-day system administration, including:
Mainframe configuration
Break/fix support
User account administration
Security monitoring
Performance monitoring
System maintenance
Provide administrative and end-user support for ISV products including BlueZone.
Serve as primary administrator for SCLM, including configuration and user support.
Support and administer CICS and IMS environments.
Diagnose software, platform, and product issues; perform root cause analysis.
Analyze performance data and contribute to capacity planning and performance tuning.
Provide recommendations for system parameters, libraries, and environment optimization.
Assist with integration testing of new products and changes.
Collaborate with Network Administration, Customer Support, and Application Development teams for seamless operations.
Support Mainframe Production Control, Support Jobs, and Job Scheduler maintenance.
Provide technical guidance or serve as technical lead on internal and cross-functional projects.
Support data entry/control processes and coordinate mainframe operations within data center environments.
(Plus) Experience with Informatica Power Exchange Administration for Change Data Capture (IMS/VSAM) is a strong bonus.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on experience in z/OS Systems Programming, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of core system components.
5+ years of experience working with JES2, z/OS Unix System Services (OMVS), and Storage Management Subsystem (SMS) to support large-scale enterprise environments.
3+ years of experience administering and managing TSS (Top Secret Security), including security rules, access controls, and compliance enforcement.
3+ years of experience performing performance monitoring and initial performance issue analysis to ensure system stability and service levels.
2+ years of experience developing REXX scripts for system automation, utilities, and operational efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of experience administering Informatica Power Exchange, specifically for Change Data Capture (CDC) processing with IMS and VSAM data sources.
3+ years of working knowledge of core z/OS operations, including VTAM networking, TCP/IP configuration, and mainframe communication protocols.
3+ years of experience with z/OS-centric scheduling and terminal tools, including JOBTRAC, BlueZone terminal emulation, and VTAM/SWITCH session management.
3+ years of hands-on experience with z/OS system utilities, including SMP/E, RMF, SMF, WLM, and creating or modifying JCL.
3+ years of experience supporting core mainframe data and access technologies, including GRS, VSAM, and TSO environments.
3+ years of experience configuring TLS security components, including certificates, SSL, RSA keys, SFTP, and FTPS.
3+ years of experience administering SCLM or similar configuration management tools, including configuration, maintenance, and user support.
3+ years of experience with CPM for JOBTRAC or equivalent enterprise job scheduling and workflow management tools.
