We are seeking a skilled and versatile Mid-Level Security Engineer to join a dedicated cybersecurity team supporting a mission-critical Federal program. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical acumen across hybrid environments (cloud and on-premises), with demonstrated expertise in networking, virtualization, security operations, and project leadership. You ll work in a dynamic environment with technologies including Palo Alto NGFW, Azure, CheckPoint, Arista, and more.
This role involves proactive infrastructure support, level 3 incident handling, and driving continuous improvements in security posture. A strong background in scripting, system hardening, and security frameworks is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on support for Palo Alto NextGen Firewalls, VPN, and related security infrastructure.
- Lead and support infrastructure and security-related projects.
- Administer and maintain Azure IaaS, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Azure Networking components.
- Perform advanced Windows Server and Active Directory support.
- Write and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across systems and networks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain security controls.
- Support compliance initiatives and documentation related to NIST, DoD, and FedRAMP standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Must hold an active DoD 8570 Certification such as Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, or SSCP.
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with Microsoft Windows Server and system administration.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure cloud technologies.
- 5+ years providing Level 3 infrastructure support.
- Strong understanding of networking, IAM, and VPN technologies.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting.
- Ability to analyze complex systems and identify areas for security or performance improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working within Federal environments or with government security standards (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP, DoD).
- Strong understanding of NextGen firewall technologies, especially Palo Alto NGFW.
- Experience with security monitoring and incident response
