IO Datasphere, Inc. has been providing project management, software development and IT staff augmentation services to our clients in the Midwest and throughout the U.S. since 1996. We are an approved vendor on contract to provide software development and IT staff augmentation services for the States of Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. We also provide these services to businesses, as well as local and county governments, in the Midwest and nationwide.
Our client is looking to hire a results-oriented and adaptable COBOL Mainframe Programmer with a can do attitude to provide application development and support for DCF related to mainframe applications. This position will work as part of a team to develop and enhance mainframe applications using technologies such as COBOL and DB2 databases to implement maintenance & enhancement mainframe functionality.
This Cobol Mainframe Programmer will work on high profile mainframe application projects, maintain online and batch application programs by reviewing, analyzing, coding, testing, and debugging application code. The role will also be responsible for developing specifications, diagrams, flowcharts and documentation. The COBOL Mainframe Programmer will analyze and develop programs using COBOL, DB2, XML, and JCL for the new enhancements and will implement application changes, enhancements and new applications and provide post implementation support.
Tasks
- Be responsible for providing technical solutioning on complex eligibility application and its architecture.
- Work closely with the project lead and management to understand and prioritize project tasks.
- Solve complex technical problems.
- Understand business objectives and problems.
- Understand the requirements, analyze the system impact, develop process documents and flowcharts, design, code, unit/integration test and deploy using mainframe tools and technologies.
- Collaborate with analysts, QA, and business users to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
- Conduct code reviews and participate in unit and smoke testing.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, database models, and system architecture diagrams.
- Provide post-production support and resolve system issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure adherence to development standards, performance optimization, and security best practices.
- May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top-level contributor/specialist.

NOTE: Candidate must be a WI resident or willing to relocate to WI prior to starting the role at their own expense. Local candidates preferred. This position is mostly remote. Onsite work is not likely, but candidate should be prepared to come onsite if required.
Location: REMOTE from within the State of WI (may be required to come on-site occasionally)

Skills Required:
- 10+ years - Analysis and Design of Mainframe Applications
- 10+ years - Advanced structured analysis, design, and application development for online and batch applications using COBOL/JCL/DB2/MVS Mainframe Systems: Using ChangeMan and CNTL-M experience
- 10+ years COBOL experience
- 10+ years - JCL experience
- 10+ years - Experience in writing complex SQLs/SPUFI using DB2
- 5+ years - Postproduction support on middle to large mainframe applications experience
- 10+ years - Experience in technical writing and documentation
- 10+ years - MS Office Products (Outlook Excel) experience
- 10+ years - User test, system test and user acceptance test plans experience
- 10+ years - In-depth knowledge of system development life cycle deliverables for each phase of development
- 5+ years Requirements analysis experience
- 10+ years - Experience working with customers to solve problems and support their needs
- Customer service and relationship management experience
- Bachelor s Degree in a related area (please include on Resume)
Skills Desired A plus to have:
