Description

One of our clients is seeking a Regional Data Center Build Engineer.

Location: Phoenix, AZ (Onsite as needed)

Travel Requirement: Up to 70% international travel to global data centers

Passport Requirement: Must have an active passport or be able to obtain one promptly

Job Summary:

The Data Center Build Team is responsible for constructing physical data center infrastructure to support cloud infrastructure across global regions. This role requires deep expertise in Layer 1 networking, data center facilities (power, cooling, structured cabling), and vendor management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building or supporting low-voltage infrastructure in data centers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate implementation and support efforts for new and existing data centers
  • Manage onsite vendors to deliver infrastructure build-outs
  • Create and maintain documentation for cabling and build standards
  • Review Bills of Materials (BoMs) to determine project scope
  • Develop project scopes of work for vendor quoting
  • Participate in vendor bidding and selection processes
  • Design and implement structured cabling solutions for new builds and expansions
  • Manage multiple concurrent infrastructure projects
  • Deliver scalable, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes
  • Collaborate with Program Management to ensure project deliverables and customer satisfaction
  • Engage with key project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Participate in quarterly business reviews with vendors
  • Troubleshoot cabling infrastructure issues, including patch panels and cords
  • Assist in developing global standards for cabling and infrastructure


Requirements

Desired Skills:

1. Experience designing and deploying complete data center physical plant cabling systems

2. Familiar with TIA Data Center Cabling Standards

3. Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies

4. Knowledge of network cabling fibreoptic types and transceiver types

5. Experience installing and troubleshooting bulk fiberoptic cabling

6. Experience with installation and planning of all infrastructure within the data center the white space

7. Broad understanding of infrastructure technologies

8. Strong track record of successful vendor management across multiple vendors in various locations

9. Experience using test equipment such as VFL power meter and OTDR

10. Thorough understanding of Cat 5 Cat 6 and OM1 - OS2 fiber optic cabling systems

11. Knowledge of data center critical environment electrical Infrastructure

12. Knowledge of colocation data center critical environment mechanical infrastructure

13. Experience in development of RFI/RFQ/RFPs for requesting vendor quoting
