Job Details

Piper Companies is seeking a Delta V Automation Engineer to join a growing leader in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology space for a contract, remote position. The Delta V Automation Engineer will oversee DeltaV DCS automation systems in a cGMP pharmaceutical environment, managing system integration, documentation review, and cross-functional coordination while ensuring compliance with FDA regulations and validation requirements.

Responsibilities of the Delta V Automation Engineer include:
  • Actively contribute to key project meetings, including remote collaboration with FDBN Automation engineers, System Integrator reviews, and weekly DSM Automation Huddle meetings.
  • Provide expert-level design review and input on DeltaV system configuration and automation requirements across multiple process areas, ensuring alignment with functional specifications and life cycle documentation.
  • Lead and review Kneat documentation, including DeltaV software FATs, SATs, Automation Commissioning Test Protocols, software OQs, and Software Installation Verification protocols-while supporting and advising document generation processes.
  • Oversee remote execution and guidance for System Integrator activities, including loop checks and commissioning tasks, ensuring efficient implementation of DeltaV configurations.
  • Work collaboratively across multiple project workstreams (FDBN/FDBD Automation, CSV, CQV, Utilities, Process Engineering) while ensuring compliance with all required Safety, Project Procedure, and Project Instruction training.


Qualifications for the Delta V Automation Engineer include:
  • 7+ years' direct experience working with Emerson DeltaV DCS
  • Experience in a cGMP pharmaceutical facility working with FDA regulations
  • Working knowledge of Kneat validation software
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.


Compensation for the Downstream Process Automation Engineer:
  • Salary Range: $80-$85/hour (USD)
