We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Network Engineer I to join our Data Center Networking team. This is an early-career role ideal for candidates with 3-5 years of total IT experience, including 1-2 years of hands-on networking experience. You'll work alongside a team of experienced engineers to support and maintain our global data center infrastructure, which powers high-traffic platforms like Homes.com, Apartments.com and LoopNet.com. This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to deepen their skills in a complex, enterprise-scale environment while contributing to the security, performance, and reliability of our data center networks.
This position is located at our Arlington, VA office and offers a schedule of Monday to Thursday in office and Fridays remote.

Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, monitoring, and support of enterprise data center network infrastructure, including core and distribution switches, firewalls, and load balancers, ensuring high availability and resilience across environments.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls to support network security operations. This includes creating and optimizing security policies, managing User-ID and App-ID features, configuring site-to-site and remote-access VPNs, enabling advanced threat prevention (IPS/IDS, WildFire, URL filtering), and monitoring traffic/logs to proactively detect and remediate security incidents.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot F5 LTM/GTM appliances to ensure high availability and optimized application delivery. This includes local and global load balancing, SSL offloading, health monitoring, iRules for traffic shaping, DNS/GTM for global traffic distribution, and integration with data center and cloud services to improve scalability and resiliency.
- Support certificate management by assisting in the installation, renewal, and validation of digital certificates to secure applications and network services.
- Contribute to AWS networking environments, including the configuration and support of VPCs, Transit Gateways, VPNs, Firewalls and Direct Connect links to extend and integrate hybrid infrastructure.
- Participate in network automation initiatives using Python, Ansible, and Terraform, building repeatable processes to reduce manual tasks, improve deployment speed, and enforce configuration consistency.
- Perform DNS and domain management tasks, including zone updates, record maintenance, domain migrations, and troubleshooting for internal and external services.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, runbooks, and operational procedures, to support knowledge sharing and audit requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Security, Database, Service Desk, and DevOps to deliver stable, secure, and high-performing network services that meet business needs.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required from an accredited, not for profit university or college (preferably in Computer Science or related field)
- A track record of commitment to prior employers
- 3+ years of total IT experience, including 1+ years of hands-on experience supporting network infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of routing and switching protocols, including but not limited to BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and/or redundancy protocols such as HSRP and VRRP.
- Experience with firewalls, including policy creation, VPN configuration, and/or security monitoring.
- Experience with load balancing such as F5 LTM/GTM, including local and global traffic management, SSL offloading, and health monitoring.
- Exposure to AWS networking concepts, including VPC design, VPNs, Transit Gateways, AWSNF and Direct Connect.
- Knowledge of DNS and domain management, including record types, zone maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications And Skills
- Scripting/automation skills in Python, with working knowledge of configuration management tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
- One or more relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Aruba ACMA, or equivalent).
- Experience supporting enterprise Wi-Fi and LAN/WAN environments.
- Exposure to network monitoring tools (e.g., LogicMonitor, PRTG, SolarWinds).
- Familiarity with firewall, load balancing, or cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure).
- Experience working in environments with ticketing systems and change management processes.
