Job Description:
- The Data Center Transition Specialist will be responsible for managing the transition of data center support activities.
- This role involves developing transition plans, assessing infrastructure, ensuring knowledge transfer, and coordinating training.
- The specialist will collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and providers to ensure a smooth transition and maintain continuity of services.
- Engage with management and transition leads to document action items for the data center support transition.
- Develop a comprehensive transition plan including timelines, milestones, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Define scope and objectives of the transition in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Assess current infrastructure and services to determine migration, retirement, or transformation needs.
- Maintain detailed documentation of transition processes, configurations, and decisions.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer between current operations and the new provider.
- Engage with internal teams and external vendors as needed.
- Collaborate with transition leads to prepare documentation for project consultation, invoice, and asset management.
- Ensure access management is established for the provider.
- Oversee completion of physical cabling transitions to prepare the provider for support responsibilities.
- Document escalation processes, incident handling, emergency procedures, and business continuity plans.
- Coordinate training and shadowing activities for the provider.
- Train the provider on project engagement processes.
- Review third-party vendor processes.
- Review safety processes for the data center and colocations.
- Establish processes for agile metrics and service level stewardship.
- Act as the representative to the provider team to provide clarity and support as needed.
- Infrastructure support experience in a large data center setup.
- Oil industry knowledge and experience.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Proven domain expertise in relevant products.
- Ability to facilitate problem-solving in group settings.
- Strong collaboration and negotiation skills.
- Conflict resolution and conflict management experience.
- Experience in requirements gathering and translating into features and user stories.
- Understanding of Agile project needs and management.
- Familiarity with Agile methodology and feature estimation.
- Ability to deliver solutions with focus on integration and timely delivery.
- Data center facilities knowledge including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
- Data center IT support with knowledge of technologies such as Juniper VCF (intermediate level) and L3/L4 networking (intermediate level).
- Disaster recovery practices and knowledge.
