Director of IT Operations - Hybrid | Houston, TX

(Hybrid, 2-3 days/week in office)

We're partnering with a leading renewable energy developer and operator that is scaling its technology function to match rapid business growth. The organization owns and operates a diverse portfolio of power generation and transmission assets across North America and is investing heavily in modernizing its IT landscape to support continued expansion and innovation.

We're searching for a Director of IT Operations to provide strategic leadership and operational excellence across the company's IT environment. This is a key role that sits at the intersection of infrastructure strategy, service delivery, and cloud transformation, with high visibility across business units and technology leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Define and execute the enterprise IT operations strategy, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives and transformation initiatives
• Lead teams responsible for infrastructure, service delivery, IT support, and cloud operations across both on-premises and SaaS environments
• Oversee the reliability, scalability, and security of enterprise systems while driving modernization and operational maturity
• Manage vendor relationships and operational budgets, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality service delivery
• Partner with security, applications, and business stakeholders to support innovation, compliance, and operational resilience
• Champion process improvement through ITSM best practices, KPI tracking, automation, and governance

Qualifications:

We're looking for a seasoned IT operations leader who can balance strategic vision with hands-on leadership. You bring:

• 10+ years of progressive IT operations or infrastructure management experience, including 5+ years leading teams
• A track record overseeing hybrid environments (cloud + on-prem), with strong knowledge of Microsoft enterprise platforms and major cloud providers (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform)
• Experience modernizing legacy systems and introducing scalable SaaS platforms and ITSM processes
• ITIL certification (required); other governance or process certifications (e.g., COBIT, ISO/IEC 20000, Six Sigma) are a plus
• Strong vendor management skills and comfort managing operational budgets
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management capabilities - able to influence across technical and business teams
