Job Details
Job Description: The Senior Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in New York, NY will spearhead ongoing enhancement and upkeep of homegrown and third-party applications to support private investments for front and middle offices. Build robust ETL scripts and APIs utilizing Python and Node.js to enable efficient data transfer to Snowflake data warehouse using DBT, PostgreSQL and SQL. Implement cloud architecture using AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform. Maintain health and optimal functioning of cloud assets as per company standards in capacity of team's DevOps Practitioner. Automate testing and deployment using cloud-based CI/CD tools and apps. Apply engineering best practices in order to analyze and develop software solutions. Develop software using agile methodologies and continuous integration practice. Utilize established monitoring and automation processes. Conduct code reviews and evaluations. Mentor junior engineers. Participate in setting team standards and best practices. Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days per week. Salary $123,656- $208,520 per year.
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Engineering and Management, or related field plus 1 year of experience as a software engineer or related occupation. Experience must include 1 year with each of the following: (1) Python, JavaScript, and Node.js; (2) SQL and data modeling; (3) CI/CD tools, including Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform; (4) AWS functions and DBT; (5) performing peer reviews on code and design; (6) explaining technical solutions to engineering teams; (7) mentoring junior engineers; and (8) Snowflake.
