Job Description

Lead the Advanced Battery Pack Integration Meeting and own the battery pack assembly CAD model. Support technical trade-off studies within the battery pack to select optimal designs from many alternatives and support the propulsion and vehicle teams with trade-off studies external to the battery pack. Support the sub-system teams to optimize the battery pack design while achieving program requirements and timing. Support the Vehicle Compartment Integration Teams to ensure appropriate space is allocated to the battery pack to achieve program requirements and CAD models are prepared for vehicle-level CAE analysis. Support with the Virtual Design, Development, and Validation (VDDV) Team to utilize virtual tools which assess the performance of battery pack designs against program requirements. During the Balance Architecture Development Phase, deliver a battery pack design solution with supporting analyses to confirm performance status vs requirements while meeting packaging constraints. After the Balance Architecture Development Phase, provide consulting support to the Battery Execution Teams as the battery pack is sourced and launched into production. Continuously benchmark automotive and other industries to identify and implement innovative technologies for electric vehicles. Protect intellectual property (IP) by inventing and supporting inventors on the team to submit Records of Invention (ROI). Be committed to safety in everything our team does. Additional Job Description

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study. Employer will accept one (1) year of related experience in lieu of one (1) year of education. Two (2) years of experience as a Technical Specialist, Senior Design Engineer, Project Engineer, Senior Project Leader or related occupation. Two years of experience in the following: Design and manage components and assemblies with CAD Software including Unigraphics NX; Product design of complex systems; Design and integration of high voltage battery packs including all major subsystems including thermal, structural, electrical, battery management system, cell integration, and thermal runaway protection; Vehicle underbody design including design for shock, vibration, fatigue, durability, and crash loadcases; Part design for high volume manufacturing including plastic injection molded, stamped sheet metal, high pressure die casting, and extrusions; Lithium-ion battery cell design and how that affect battery pack design; Various chemistries including NMC and LFP; and Create and managing high quality 3D data using Unigraphics NX.
