Job Description

We are Atelio by FIS, and our mission is to empower developers across all verticals to easily imagine, create, and monetize financial products to profoundly transform the way the entire financial industry consumes services. Today, it's difficult for many businesses to build the financial products they imagine. Whether that's launching a new credit or debit card, a savings account, a lending business, or anything else - there are barriers in the way that require excessive time and effort. We make it easy for businesses to compliantly offer financial products and innovate on their key differentiators rather than spend their time building and maintaining financial infrastructure.

Given the criticality of the data we handle for ourselves and our client brands, we need to set and exceed fintech / banking standards for cybersecurity and data protection. To achieve that goal, we are looking for a Senior Security Engineer to help us secure our future.

Join our dynamic team and become a pivotal force in driving both strategic and tactical initiatives. This is a builder position where you'll play a crucial role in shaping our vision, seamlessly blending the rapid pace of a startup with uncompromising security standards. Your expertise in code analysis, architectural analysis, and infrastructure will be key in identifying potential challenges and crafting innovative solutions to keep us agile and ahead of the curve.

As a technical contributor at this level, you'll be both a visionary leader and a hands-on builder, tackling our most complex and ambiguous problems. Your strong technical judgment and exceptional communication skills will enable you to influence and negotiate with the CTO and executive team as a trusted technical advisor. You'll provide both architectural guidance and detailed technical direction, fostering a culture of continuous delivery and excellence.

We invite software and infrastructure engineers with a passion for security to apply. If you've developed your own tools for security assessments, have a keen understanding of the latest breaches and vulnerabilities, thrive in high-scale environments, and enjoy the challenge of balancing security with agility, we want to hear from you. Join us if you're driven to enhance your skills and make a significant impact.

Note: This position is based in the greater Seattle/Bellevue, WA area. We plan to bring the team together regularly for design, ideation, and connection building.

What you will be doing:
  • This is a builder position where you will design, build, and own security and privacy features supporting product engineering and customer operations.
  • Develop and implement security solutions, architectures, and tools to ensure regulatory compliance, leveraging your expertise in code analysis and architectural analysis.
  • Collaborate with product teams to threat model features, identify and mitigate risks, and enhance the security reasoning and knowledge of the greater engineering team, including executive leadership.
  • Proactively identify and remedy potential security risks to customer data, utilizing your skills in infrastructure and influence and negotiation.
  • Help drive the direction of the organization by operationalizing common security patterns and advancing our roadmap.

What you bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience writing software in Python, GoLang, and/or Java, or equivalent.
  • Strong command of one or more of the following: applied cryptography, authnz, networking, and code analysis.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and assessing secure architectures.
  • In-depth knowledge of security best practices, including secure coding, vulnerability assessment, and penetration testing.
  • Strong software, infrastructure, and security fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong desire to grow and educate others.

Added bonus if you have:
  • Experience with cloud security architectures, technologies, and platforms including AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and agile environment.
  • Experience with financial services regulations, such as SOC 2, PCI-DSS, CCPA, and GDPR.
  • Experience with threat hunting and/or incident response.
  • Strong network of security professionals and active participation in the security community.

What we offer you:

At FIS, we hire the best. In return, you receive exceptional benefits including:
  • Opportunities to innovate in fintech.
  • Tools for personal and professional growth.
  • Inclusive and diverse work environment.
  • Resources to invest in your community.
  • Competitive salary and benefits.
