Principal System Architect - High Power Controllers

As a System Architect, you will shape the future of high-power controller ICs by driving architectural innovation, influencing product strategy, and enabling revenue growth through high-performance solutions.

Core Responsibilities
  • Define and own the comprehensive system-level architecture of next-generation high-power ICs, including control, telemetry, and embedded memory.
  • Collaborate across teams, including system application engineers, product definers, marketing, and planners, to set project goals and timelines.
  • Develop and maintain system models for use by application, design, verification, and evaluation teams.
  • Lead architecture reviews for the product development teams and stakeholder groups and make enhancements based on feedback.

Critical Contributing Responsibilities

Design Leadership
  • Drive the product development lifecycle, managing requirements, executing circuit design, identifying issues, and recommending solutions.
  • Derive block-level performance targets from higher-level design specifications.
  • Apply formal design and verification techniques, tools, and methodologies to produce efficient designs which meet specified objectives.
  • Function as the chip lead for projects and perform chip floor planning to guide layout engineers during physical implementation.

Technical Execution
  • Evaluate the physical implementation of design blocks by layout engineers to ensure the physical design meets performance and reliability metrics.
  • Perform analog and mixed signal circuit analysis, design, simulation, verification, and evaluation supporting the design products and the successful integration of design blocks into larger systems.
  • Support lab evaluation and debugging of hardware emulation or engineering prototypes of integrated circuits.

Customer & Industry Engagement
  • Engage with customer teams to drive adoption of new topologies.
  • Participate in conferences (internal and external) to lead topology advancement and monitor industry developments.

Position Requirements:
  • PhD with 5+ years (or MSEE with 8+ years) of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated experience in architecting and designing Power ICs
  • Solid understanding of CMOS and BCD process technology, including device structure, operation, matching, and parasitic concerns
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience preparing and delivering technical presentations and design reviews
  • Familiarity with Cadence IC design environment and SIMPLIS or similar behavioral simulation environment.
  • Experience with emulation platforms, laboratory equipment, and measurement techniques
  • Experience with high voltage (>100V) power ICs, GaN or SiC technologies (preferred)

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $141,075 to $211,613.
