Role: iSeries Engineer
Location: Las Vegas, NV - onsite
Position Overview:
As the Manager of iSeries Engineering, you will oversee the design, maintenance, and support of mission-critical IBM i systems that power operations across the gaming floor, hotel systems, finance, and back-of-house services. You will manage a team of skilled engineers, serve as the primary liaison with business and technology stakeholders, and ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, including those mandated by gaming and financial oversight bodies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of iSeries Engineers, providing technical guidance, career development, and performance oversight.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of IBM i (iSeries/AS400) environments, ensuring system availability, reliability, and performance.
- Collaborate with IT leadership to align infrastructure strategy with business needs.
- Manage lifecycle planning for hardware, operating systems, and software within the IBM i ecosystem.
- Coordinate and execute upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal business disruption.
- Enforce rigorous backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures.
- Drive compliance with regulatory standards including PCI, SOX, and MICS, and support internal and external audits.
- Manage vendor relationships, licensing, and support contracts related to IBM i systems and tools.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and SOPs.
- Participate in budgeting, project planning, and long-term infrastructure roadmap development.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience working with IBM i / iSeries / AS400 systems, including system administration, performance tuning, and application support.
- 3+ years in a leadership or management role, preferably within an enterprise IT infrastructure team.
- Deep knowledge of CL programming, job scheduling (Robot, HelpSystems), system backup/recovery, and DB2 for i.
- Proven experience supporting IBM i systems in a 24/7, high-availability environment.
- Strong understanding of hospitality/gaming systems such as PMS, POS, and slot data integrations.
- Experience in compliance-driven environments with exposure to audits and regulatory reviews.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Nevada Gaming Control Board registration or other applicable licenses.
- Experience with PowerHA, BRMS, and HA/DR design.
- Familiarity with modernizing IBM i environments and integrating with open systems or cloud platforms.
- Previous experience in hotel and casino environments or large-scale hospitality organizations.
