We are seeking a seasoned System Engineering Manager to lead the development and growth of a high-performing system engineering team focused on complex marine, naval, and industrial projects. Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Build, mentor, and lead a team of system lead engineers responsible for delivering large-scale marine, naval, and industrial power conversion projects.
- Develop technical career paths and training plans to strengthen team capabilities and support professional growth.
- Establish and implement best practices for system design, integration, requirements management, and verification & validation.
- Lead the hiring process for new system engineering talent, from defining job requirements to candidate selection and onboarding.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative, and accountable team culture focused on quality, delivery, and continuous improvement.
- Assign system leads to projects and support them with clear technical direction, coaching, and issue resolution.
- Oversee the development of system architectures, ensuring they meet performance, cost, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical leadership in design reviews and ensure compliance with relevant marine, defense, and industrial standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sourcing, project management, and manufacturing) to align system-level strategies and execution.
- Contribute to organizational planning, capability growth strategy, and strategic resourcing of engineering capabilities.
- Accountable for the On-Time Delivery of the System engineering
- Check effectiveness of design against delivery of contract requirements within project budget and look for global cost optimization during basic design
- Approve transmittal of documents to customer
- Review main subcontracting files for main work packages design activities (scope, deliverables, inputs, schedule)
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Systems, Electrical, or related discipline
- Minimum of 10 years of experience managing system engineering teams within the marine, naval, or industrial domains.
Desired Characteristics:
- Proven success in hiring, coaching, and developing engineering talent at multiple levels.
- Deep understanding of system engineering processes, tools, and methodologies
- Strong communication, team-building, and leadership skills across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Technical expertise in power conversion systems, propulsion, automation, or high-reliability electrical systems.
- Experience in managing teams for both commercial and naval defense programs.
- Familiarity with classification and regulatory bodies (e.g., DNV, ABS, MIL-STD).
- Systems Engineering certification
- Experience scaling engineering teams in a project-based environment.
