Description

We are seeking a Senior Design Release Engineer (DRE) to lead sourcing, design release, change manage, specification and production readiness activities for our cutting-edge next generation System-on-a-Chip (SoC) semiconductors . Your efforts will be on the forefront of GM's most complex and interesting technological advancement contributing to our development in compute and connectivity technology. By collaborating and building strong partnerships with internal team members responsible for commercial negotiations, electronic control unit (ECU) design as well as semiconductor partner(s), you can push the boundaries of what our SoC's can do in compute and connectivity technology for our customers!

We are seeking a Senior Design Release Engineer (DRE) to lead sourcing, design release, change manage, specification and production readiness activities for our cutting-edge next generation System-on-a-Chip (SoC) semiconductors. Your efforts will be on the forefront of GM's most complex and interesting technological advancement contributing to our development in compute and connectivity technology. By collaborating and building strong partnerships with internal team members responsible for commercial negotiations, electronic control unit (ECU) design as well as semiconductor partner(s), you can push the boundaries of what our SoC's can do in compute and connectivity technology for our customers!

Responsibilities

  • Support and lead the design, development, verification, documentation, and definition of our next generation System-on-a-Chip (SoC) semiconductors
  • Understand, support and drive discussion on SoC needs, architecture and use cases with our vehicle architecture teams working on our Software Defined Vehicel (SDV) Architecture
  • Build partnerships and work closely with functional peers across semiconductor and ECU engineering, purchasing, and SoC suppliers to implement semiconductor strategic objectives
  • Develop eSOR (Statement of Requirements) and release SoC semiconductors to facilitate on-time sourcing and integration with ECUs in accordance with Global Vehicle Development Process and program timing requirements
  • Run Product Development Team (PDT) consisting of all internal and external partners ensuring semiconductors are designed, produced and production ready
  • Build strong semiconductor fabrication partner relationships ensuring clear understanding of manufacturing process, supply chain business arrangements
  • Project manage ongoing process/product design changes related to semiconductors within scope of responsibility and present progress to leadership
  • Establish domain expertise for semiconductors product line within scope of responsibility

Qualifications - Required

  • BS in Electrical Engineering / Electronics
  • 5+ total years of engineering experience as a DRE, OR at a semiconductor supplier, OR at Tier 1 ECU supplier
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in electronic hardware design and development
  • Proficient in schematic and layout design for hardware solutions
  • Working knowledge of automotive electronic hardware and automotive software architecture
  • Exceptional collaboration and teamwork skills; demonstrated ability for working across functional and organizational boundaries
  • Exceptional demonstrated experience leading projects to completion
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proven ability to learn quickly

Additional Description

Qualifications - Preferred

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering / Electronics
  • Previous experience with SoC design/application on a module or component level
  • Knowledge of SoC architecture, IP and workloads
  • Industry knowledge with the design and application of different semiconductors
  • Hands on experience with lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and multimeters
  • 10+ total years of engineering experience with 6+ years in hardware design

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role requires them to be onsite 3 days per week and is subject to change based on GM's corporate policy.
