College Board - AP&I / Digital Transformation

100% Remote, working EST

About the Team

As part of the larger AP and Instruction Department, the Digital Transformation Team is a strong and collaborative group of product owners, product managers, content experts, and product development professionals. We are responsible for managing a portfolio of digital assessment and instructional products and leading the work to transition paper assessment programs to College Board's digital assessment platform. We collaborate closely with colleagues in technology, user experience, operations, assessment design & development, psychometrics and program management to design and develop digital solutions that meet the needs of our users.

About the Opportunity

As the Senior Product Owner, Test Content & Pool Management, you are a motivated, proactive leader who operates with a sense of urgency in solving problems and getting things done. You bring a customer-focused mindset, organizational awareness, and a keen eye for detail. In this role, you will partner closely with the Exam Config team, overseeing their assets-including Neutrino, the test content and pool management application. The Exam Config team is key part of our broader Digital Assessment Platform (DAP) technology team, responsible for digital data exchange. You will drive the execution of the vision and roadmap for test content and item pool management within our internal content management ecosystem, which bridges our authoring platforms and our digital assessment platform.

The internal test content and item pool management system includes:
  • Item pool and content usage analytics - to monitor overall pool health, drive content development priorities, and trigger item status updates.
  • Workflow and control features - to ensure the integrity of content sent to downstream systems.
You are technically adept, comfortable participating in technical conversations, and capable of troubleshooting potential production issues. You will directly manage the backlogs for both Neutrino and the Exam Config team, proactively incorporating stakeholder feedback to deliver the highest priority features on the roadmap. You will build strong, productive relationships while guiding and leading a development team to produce tremendous value for our internal and external customers.

In this role, you will:

Deliver priority features on the product roadmap aligned to product vision and organizational priorities (50%)
  • Collaborate with product managers, product owners, engineering managers, and other stakeholders to plan and sequence work that enables successful feature delivery
  • Maintain clear, transparent, and prioritized product backlogs; facilitate backlog refinement sessions to ensure the development team has actionable work
  • Break down features into user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria, written collaboratively but ultimately owned by the Product Owner
  • Guide daily agile processes with the development team, including sprint planning, daily standups, demos, and retrospectives
  • Continuously gather data and integrate feedback from product managers, stakeholders, and internal users to evaluate product effectiveness and inform feature prioritization
  • Use effectiveness data and stakeholder feedback to prioritize new features and sunset outdated or low-value ones
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies and accept completed work during end-of-sprint reviews/demos, ensuring alignment with product goals
  • Work with other product owners to manage dependencies, align priorities, and coordinate delivery of complex features
  • Partner with engineering managers to understand technical constraints and drive product needs through a technical lens
Develop and communicate a product vision, roadmap, and goals (30%)
  • Collaborate with the product manager to shape and maintain a clear product roadmap aligned to vision and strategy
  • Develop communications for roadmap; in conjunction with the product manager, convey the product roadmap(s) to the development team
  • Define feature-level outcomes; given established product-level goals, define goals for each feature (e.g., KPIs, OKRs) aligned to the product vision
  • Shape resource investment across features; Prioritize use of resources (team time and money) across features and other workstreams
  • Establish deep understanding of both users and the market; support the product manager in interpreting stakeholder feedback and market data to inform product development
Communicate progress outside of the team (20%)
  • Provide release information and product updates to internal stakeholders including leading demos, and other tactical communication to increase understanding of the features of the system
About You

You have:
  • 5+ years relevant product owner experience, including experience working on digital assessment delivery
  • Experience owning product features from inception through design to implementation and launch
  • Experience working in an Agile product development work environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of technology including data integration, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to complete complex tasks on short deadlines and in a fast-past environment
  • Inquisitive mindset with tremendous learning agility
  • Excellent prioritization and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience distilling data to inform key decisions
  • The ability to travel 4-5 times a year to College Board offices or on behalf of College Board business
  • Authorization to work in the United States
Additional nice-to-haves:
  • Experience designing and communicating Objective and Key Results (OKRs), mentoring junior colleagues, creating business cases, and receiving buy-in from senior leadership
  • Experience in content engineering (strong plus)
  • Experience with UX design
