Job Details

Why is this position open: Backfill for a previous contractor - SCDMV Information Technology is a professional information processing group dedicated to maintaining and improving IT functions and reliability for the ultimate benefit of citizens of South Carolina.

Interview Process: 2 rounds, In-person preferred/will consider Teams as well
Duration of the Contract: 12 months
Possibility for Extension: Yes

Work Location: Initially 100% on-site for SCDMV orientation and system familiarization. Hybrid is possible at SCDMV's discretion.

Candidate Location: Candidate MUST be a SC resident or willing to relocate/commute to SC prior to starting the role at their own expense.

Daily Duties / Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze the SCDMV Phoenix II, Web Service, and batch business applications
  2. Take the lead in analyzing and trouble-shooting assigned system problems
  3. Propose solutions
  4. Code, test, promote, and interact with impacted users ensuring that solution meets requirements.
  5. Provide daily and weekly status to the development manager

Required Skills (rank in order of Importance):

  • COBOL development with MICROFOCUS Visual COBOL using Visual Studio 2019/2022 in Windows Server 2022 under IIS.
  • MICROFOCUS Visual COBOL V7, V9, or higher strongly preferred
  • Accessing Oracle and MS SQL Server enterprise databases from within the programming (COBOL) platform.
  • Crafting SQL statements to support required system functionality.

Preferred Skills (rank in order of Importance):

  • Visual Studio 2019 and higher Debugging
  • IIS configuration/setup
  • Microsoft Team Foundation Server
  • Microsoft C# .NET
  • Application programming against RDBMS (Oracle, SQL).
  • SQL for Oracle DB.

Required Education:

Prefer Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology related discipline with 8 years of experience or minimum 10 years related experience.

Required Certifications:

Not required but MS technical certifications will be factored in the selection process.

Microfocus Certifications are a significant advantage
