Job Title: SAFe Agile Certified Scrum Master
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid; Local candidates preferred)
Duration: Long-term Contract / Fulltime

Mandatory Skills: SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), Medicaid experience, Agile/Scrum, HIPAA, EDI standards, Texas HHSC
Overall Experience: 5+ years as Scrum Master | 2+ years in Medicaid domain

Job Description:
We are looking for a SAFe Agile Certified Scrum Master with experience in Texas Medicaid systems to support Agile delivery and team performance across Medicaid IT initiatives. This role will work within a SAFe Agile Release Train, guiding Scrum teams focused on areas like provider enrollment, prior authorization, Medicaid analytics, and fee-for-service claims.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies (Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Retrospectives, Reviews)

  • Serve as Scrum Master for 1 or more Agile teams within a SAFe Agile Release Train

  • Support PI Planning, System Demos, Iteration Planning, and Inspect & Adapt workshops

  • Coach Agile teams and stakeholders on SAFe principles and Scrum best practices

  • Foster a collaborative and continuously improving team culture

  • Identify and remove team-level impediments, escalating as needed

  • Monitor and maintain backlog quality, Definition of Done (DoD), and delivery velocity

  • Track Agile metrics (velocity, burndown, cumulative flow) for performance and transparency

  • Collaborate with business analysts and Medicaid SMEs to align deliverables with state Medicaid requirements

  • Ensure Agile practices meet HIPAA, EDI, HL7, and other Medicaid compliance requirements

  • Coordinate with other Scrum Masters and Product Owners for cross-team dependencies

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in IT, Healthcare, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Active SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) certification or higher (e.g., SASM, RTE)

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master in a SAFe/Scaled Agile environment

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Medicaid/Healthcare IT projects

  • Strong knowledge of Medicaid functions: provider enrollment, prior auth, analytics, claims

  • Excellent facilitation, coaching, and stakeholder communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with MMIS modernization or Medicaid integration

  • Familiarity with tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, or Rally

  • Knowledge of healthcare standards (HIPAA, EDI X12, HL7)

  • Experience with DevOps or test automation in healthcare IT

  • Additional certifications (CSM, PMI-ACP, SAFe Agilist)
