Job Title : API Technical Architect
Experience Required - 10+ Years
Must Have Technical/Functional Skills
Proven experience as an API Architect with strong design and implementation expertise.
Deep knowledge of API-first principles, contract-first design, and OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
Hands-on experience with API management platforms (e.g., Azure API Management).
Strong understanding of REST, GraphQL, event-driven APIs, and microservices architecture.
Familiarity with security standards (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS) and API governance frameworks.
Experience with CI/CD automation, infrastructure as code (Terraform/Bicep), and automated testing frameworks (unit, integration, contract, performance, security).
Ability to research, innovate, and implement new API patterns and technologies.
Experience of developing applications on Azure Cloud
Key Responsibilities
Role Overview:
Serve as a thought leader in API architecture, driving innovation and best practices.
Understand and align with the customer s vision such as API-first and contract-first design principles.
Independently define, design, and implement API strategies within the API team.
Offload customer architects by taking end to end ownership so they only need to review and approve
outcomes on first submission.
Key Responsibilities
Translate customer API vision into actionable architecture and implementation plans.
Drive API-first and contract-first design across all services and integrations.
Research emerging trends, tools, and patterns in API architecture; introduce new ideas and accelerators.
Ensure high-quality design and implementation standards within the team before customer review.
Establish governance, guidelines, and best practices for API development and lifecycle management.
Mentor and guide API developers on standards, security, scalability, and performance.
Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate APIs into CI/CD pipelines and ensure automated quality checks.
Act as the primary point of accountability for API architecture decisions, offloading customer architects
from day-to-day involvement.
