The Senior Payroll Manager reports, reconciles and publishes payroll and compensation data both domestically and internationally in APAC regions (other countries may be assigned). This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and timely execution of payroll processes in the region in accordance with best practices and as directed by the Director of Payroll.

Roles and Responsibility

  • Leadership role in the end-to-end payroll processing for all company entities across Americas and APAC regions, ensuring timely and accurate payroll cycles.
  • Calculate, peer review and approve payroll calculations, including salaries, bonuses, benefits, and statutory deductions.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for payroll-related regulations, labor laws, and tax requirements to ensure strict compliance and guarantee the timely execution of all statutory reporting and filings.
  • Ensure payroll operations are compliant with all relevant country-specific laws and regulations, including statutory requirements for tax, social security and other withholdings.
  • Generate and provide the GL team with detailed payroll registers and summaries to support the accurate and timely creation of manual and automated journal entries.
  • Partner closely with Finance, HR, Tax, and Legal teams to ensure seamless coordination of payroll-related data, such as new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and benefits updates.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
  • Maintain and create payroll department SOP library.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees and senior management, providing expert guidance on complex issues.
  • Respond to and manage inquiries from internal and external auditors and regulatory agencies.
  • Drive continuous process improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay current with professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional networks.
  • Manage relationships with third-party payroll providers and vendors, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met and processes are efficient.
  • Lead the implementation of payroll system enhancements and new country setups within the Americas and APAC region.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all system-generated direct deposits and checks, including the computation and calculation of special and off-cycle checks for final termination pay, etc.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Researches, analyzes, and resolves difficult or advanced technical problems or questions presented by co-workers or employees.
  • Maintain payroll system and liaise with ADP to troubleshoot problems and provide solutions.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports on employee pay data.
  • Manage payroll year-end process and distribution of annual tax forms.
  • Respond to audit and regulatory inquiries.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Other payroll related projects and needs as they arise.

Years of Experience in Related Field: 12+ years of payroll experience in a public company

Education: Bachelor s degree

Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proven experience managing multi-country payroll operations for an international organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll audit procedures and payroll tax laws.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles and their application to payroll functions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
  • Highest degree of integrity and ability to handle company and employee information with the strictest confidence.
  • Self-motivated and directed with a positive outlook.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and in a team environment to resolve issues.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal and customer service skills and the demonstrated ability to interact with management and employees at all levels.
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • ADP experience required.
