Job Description

  • Schedule: M-F 7-4 with flex depending on business needs (can take 30 min or 1 hour break- unbillable)

Job Summary:

  • The Battery Pack and Module Teardown Technician is responsible for the safe disassembly, analysis, and documentation of battery modules and packs.
  • This role involves working with high-voltage systems, performing fabrication and assembly tasks, and supporting engineering teams in failure analysis and research activities.
  • The technician will follow strict safety protocols and contribute to process improvements in teardown and testing operations.

This is what you ll do:

  • Perform battery module and pack teardowns, including disassembly and failure analysis of cells and components.
  • Operate and maintain battery testing equipment, including environmental chambers, potentiostats, and thermal analysis tools.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including engineers, to improve battery performance and safety.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to laboratory safety procedures and handling hazardous materials properly.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety checks before handling battery packs and battery modules.
  • Provide feedback on teardown processes to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in the teardown and testing environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in battery teardown, assembly, or related technical roles.
  • Hands-on experience with high-voltage systems (up to 1,000V) and electrical safety.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in fabrication and assembly.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Understanding of thermal, electrical, and mechanical failure modes in batteries.
  • Experience with documentation and data collection tools (Excel, databases, or LIMS).
