Position Summary

The Network Engineer is responsible for maintaining, securing, and enhancing the organization s enterprise network across multiple industrial and operational environments. This role focuses heavily on patching and upgrading Cisco network equipment, performing vulnerability assessments, and ensuring high availability and security across LAN, WAN, SDN, and OT networks. The ideal candidate will bring deep Cisco expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead and collaborate across diverse technical teams.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities


  • Implement, manage, and optimize network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, SDN, and OT environments to ensure reliability, scalability, and peak performance.
  • Deploy, patch, and upgrade Cisco routers, switches, and wireless access points while ensuring compliance with internal security and operational standards.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and enforce network security policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Execute router/switch configuration tasks, break-fix support, and hardware replacements at multiple field and facility locations.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to network performance, server interactions, DDoS protection systems, and NetScaler load balancers.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and cybersecurity teams to ensure successful installation, integration, and maintenance of network, server, and storage infrastructure.
  • Provide project leadership and serve as a subject-matter expert on Cisco networking, network security, and infrastructure best practices.

Required Skills & Experience


  • 5 7 years experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network devices.
  • 8+ years overall experience in network management, particularly with Cisco technologies, WAN, and SDN.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Proven ability in patching and upgrading Cisco network equipment.
  • Strong background in router/switch configuration, troubleshooting, and break-fix activities.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Solid understanding of cloud, compute, and storage environments; vendor management; operations management; and ITIL frameworks.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong business and technical acumen with the ability to influence stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Process-driven mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience supporting data centers, OT networks, and large-scale industrial or utility-type environments.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards relevant to network operations.
  • Familiarity with network licensing optimization and cloud-based networking solutions.
  • Strong IP networking fundamentals and desire to stay current with emerging technologies.

Nice-to-Have Skills


  • Experience with load balancers (NetScaler, F5, etc.)
  • Experience with SolarWinds or similar network monitoring tools

Day-to-Day Responsibilities


  • Patch and upgrade Cisco routers and switches across multiple operational sites.
  • Design, implement, and maintain core network infrastructure within enterprise and industrial environments.
  • Replace failing or outdated network hardware at field and facility locations.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues involving servers, DDoS protection systems, NetScaler load balancers, and overall network performance.
  • Support configuration and integration of server and storage infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with peers on network planning, security considerations, and technology upgrades.
