Luna Data Solutions has an immediate contract position opening (contract term approximately 6 months with possible extension and/or possible conversion to a FTE at some point) for a Sr. Network Administrator resource for our client in San Marcos, TX. *This is a 100% onsite position, with on call rotation responsibilities.
*Note: All candidates must be able to work on a W2 basis; No C2C is allowed.
Role: Sr. Network Administrator
Role Description:
This resource will be working onsite supporting a wide variety of network technologies, from layer-2 switches to virtualized MPLS routed network environments. The client operates a heterogenous network with equipment from multiple manufacturers including Cisco, Juniper, HP, and Ruckus Wireless. The client is a small team and focuses on open networking standards and solutions. They strive to maintain a highly reliable and available network infrastructure.
Key Activities/Responsibilities:
- Design, installation and configuration of network switches, routers, wireless access points, and related equipment.
- Work tickets to resolve end-user network issues.
- Allocate and assign campus wide network IP address space.
- Perform backup and recovery of network infrastructure configuration data.
- Perform regular administration tasks in support of network infrastructure in a 24/7 operations environment.
- Install software and firmware updates and security patches.
- Produce written documentation for network designs, processes, procedures, configurations, and network diagrams.
- Automate network tasks using network management and automation tools and scripting.
- Work with vendors until problems are resolved.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in network administration.
- Experience with BGP Routing Protocol.
- Experience with MPLS Routing.
- Experience with network security devices (Firewall, IPS).
- Experience with network equipment from multiple manufacturers including Cisco, Juniper, HP, and Ruckus Wireless.
- Experience with network automation and scripting.
- Experience with Wireless networking protocols and technologies.
- Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
- Must also be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable interfacing with all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience installing, testing, and maintaining physical network cabling (copper, fiber optic).
- Experience with CATV systems and cabling.
- Experience with PBX telephone systems.
- Network certifications preferred but not required.
