Enterprise Cloud Architect
4 to 6 weeks
Arlington, VA- Remote
Fixed Rate: Flat $15000 One Time settlement.
One of our Client is seeking an Enterprise Cloud Architect for 4 to 6 weeks specializing in container services to guide the Cloud Architecture and Enablement (CAE) team in the review, assessment, and provide recommendations of our container platform strategy. The Enterprise Architect must have experience collaborating with teams to align technology with the organization s overall goals and strategies. The ideal candidate will have practical experience architecting, developing, and deploying multiple medium to large-scale cloud native container services, to include EKS/ECS, using modern methodologies and leading practices. The candidate will be responsible for shaping Client s container platform strategy as the organization matures processes and procedures related to infrastructure administration, platform and container security, application development and deployment integration.
The Enterprise Cloud Architect will have the following responsibilities and deliverables:
- The candidate will update our high-level solution design using modern container technologies and provide a roadmap for enhancements to the existing platform. This roadmap will ensure alignment with the overall IT cloud strategy and migration roadmap. The architecture and solution design will be based on appropriate technologies as well as industry and organizational leading practices.
- The candidate will collaborate with the IT CAE team to understand current pain points, landscape demands, and the overall goals of the container platform. The roadmap will focus on:
- Review of current strategy and environment state compared to industry leading practices
- Review of security controls; recommend and design
- Review of operations and recommend automated or managed services such EKS Auto mode, JIT Node access
- Recommend different disaster recovery design options and trade-offs
- Recommend automated and integrated cluster testing to support automated platform services updates and upgrades
- Review of vulnerability management of platform services 3rd party vendor packages
- Recommend improvements to automated deployment of cluster updates
- Recommend methodologies to node right-sizing and mixed instance families designs
- The candidate will review and evaluate current platform state and will identify and research leading frameworks and methodologies which fulfill the defined strategic vision. They will create documentation assessing the possible benefits, risks and costs associated with implementing such technologies. The enterprise architect will present recommendations and findings to the IT CAE team as well as senior IT leaders.
- The candidate will create platform gap analysis and roadmap based on an understanding of current state and strategic vision and related technologies recommendations. This roadmap will serve to shape the future state in a way that increases the platform s agility, efficiency, maintainability, and scalability.
- The candidate will provide current state evaluation, recommended technology solutions, gap analysis and relevant roadmap to comprise the container platform strategy.
The Enterprise Architect will have the following skills:
- Deep knowledge and advanced practical experience with the following technologies and frameworks:
- Designing, building, and operating multiple, highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable production infrastructure services using Kubernetes and Cloud-Native technologies.
- Technologies and frameworks revolving around container development, deployment, administration, and security.
- Amazon Web Services, to include EKS/ECS/Fargate, and the use of these services to create secure, scalable, high-performance container-based infrastructure and applications.
- Demonstrate experience migrating on-premises applications to AWS managed services.
- Experience leading efforts to redesign application architectures to make use of native AWS services.
- Experience and a deep understanding of continuous integration, automated testing and deployment frameworks, platforms, and practices. Direct experience with DevSecOps practices and technologies in the design, development, and implementation phases of product lifecycles.
- Ability to effectively communicate and explain complex technical concepts to both IT experts and non-technical business stakeholders. This includes possessing excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate with a wide range of staff including developers, analysts, product owners, as well as IT and business leadership.
- Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills to align technology solutions with business objectives in a pragmatic manner. This includes having strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address complex technology challenges and possessing the ability to make informed recommendations.
The Enterprise Architect will have the following education, training, and experience:
- Degree in computer science or a related field of study.
- Certifications including AWS Certified Solutions Architect (required), Kubernetes certifications KCNA/KCAD/KCA (preferred).
- At least ten years of experience designing, developing, and implementing medium to large-scale, integrated enterprise applications to include container services using innovative, modern technologies and leading practices.
- Prior experience working with healthcare, insurance, and financial management systems and/or association and membership systems preferred.
