Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Data Strategy Consultant to assess and modernize our current data ecosystem. Our organization is undergoing a digital transformation, with a recent shift to Power BI for reporting. The environment includes legacy systems (e.g., Crystal Reports), data sources, and CSV-based processes.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, can lead with vision, and can execute a roadmap for scalable, secure, and efficient data operations-especially within the healthcare domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current data and systems landscape, including reporting tools, data flows, and infrastructure.

  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and risks in the current architecture.

  • Recommend a unified, scalable, and secure data strategy, including:

    • Best practices for automating CSV workflows and data ingestion.

    • Integration strategies for Power BI and/or alternative analytics platforms.

    • Infrastructure requirements to support a future-state data environment.

    • Access control and governance models for Power BI.

    • Cost-benefit analysis of proposed tools and solutions.

  • Provide a detailed roadmap for implementation, including timelines, resource needs, and compliance considerations (HIPAA, SOC2, PHI).

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Proven experience in data strategy consulting or similar leadership roles in startups or transformation projects.

  • Strong background in evaluating and recommending data solutions and architectures.

  • Deep understanding of Power BI, data integration, and automation tools (e.g., Power Automate, APIs).

  • Familiarity with legacy systems like Crystal Reports and modern replacements.

  • Healthcare domain expertise, including compliance with HIPAA, SOC2, and handling of PHI.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical findings into business recommendations.

Current Tech Stack

  • Microsoft 365 (O365)

  • Power BI (primary reporting tool)

  • Microsoft Teams & SharePoint

  • SQL Server (on-prem or cloud-hosted)

  • Crystal Reports (being phased out)

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) or cloud migration strategies.

  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and security best practices.

  • Ability to work independently and drive change in a complex, evolving environment.
