Role: Data Architect (EST Hours Required)
Location: Remote
The Data Architect will play a critical role in designing, evolving, and optimizing the organization’s cloud-based data architecture. This individual will leverage deep data engineering experience, strong architectural thinking, and exceptional diagramming/documentation skills to build scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud data solutions.
Core Responsibilities
Cloud Data Architecture Design & Strategy
Design and implement secure, scalable cloud-based data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes.
Lead the selection, integration, and adoption of Azure-based data services (storage, databases, analytics tools).
Develop and maintain comprehensive cloud data strategies aligned with organizational goals and future scalability needs.

Core Responsibilities
Cloud Data Architecture Design & Strategy
Design and implement secure, scalable cloud-based data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes.
Lead the selection, integration, and adoption of Azure-based data services (storage, databases, analytics tools).
Develop and maintain comprehensive cloud data strategies aligned with organizational goals and future scalability needs.
Diagramming & Documentation
Create clear, informative architecture diagrams including data flow diagrams, ERDs, and system architecture visuals.
Maintain detailed architecture documentation covering design decisions, standards, and operational procedures.
Hands-on Implementation & Optimization
Contribute directly to the hands-on implementation of cloud data solutions.
Identify and implement optimizations for performance, cost, and scalability across cloud data platforms.
Troubleshoot data pipeline failures, data quality issues, and accessibility problems.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field.
5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience with distributed computing frameworks such as Spark, MapReduce, or Databricks.
Proven experience designing and implementing cloud data solutions in Azure.
Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and methodologies.
Proficiency with relational and NoSQL database systems.
Exceptional diagramming skills using tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, Draw.io, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of Azure cloud-native data services (Databricks, ADLS, Synapse, etc.).
Expertise in big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark ecosystem).
Strong understanding of data security, compliance, and governance frameworks.
Experience with scripting languages such as Python and SQL.
Additional Skills
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to address complex data challenges.
Teamwork & Leadership: Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams with demonstrated potential for technical leadership.
