Job Details

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc (MTSI) is seeking a mid-level RF Engineer in support of a technology development program at our customer's site located on Redstone Arsenal. In this role you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to develop state-of-the-art RF solutions for our customers' most challenging problems. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with advanced sensing and navigation systems, guide development of 6 DoF simulations, help inform hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL/HITL) testing, and field new systems. Candidates for this role will be comfortable working in a dynamic, small-team environment where multiple research and development efforts are ongoing simultaneously.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Using high levels of ingenuity to identify and innovate new solutions to complex RF problems
  • Working with industry experts to develop and deliver next-generation RF technologies
  • Participating in technical discussions to assist in near- and long-term planning
  • Developing and running software using MATLAB/SIMULINK and/or Python
  • Providing assessments and recommendations for major RF subsystems like phased array antennas, RF signal processors (GPU and FPGA based), and computer algorithms
  • Creating and presenting complex technical presentations related to RF systems to high-level program management and military officers
  • Reviewing technical reports from across the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC)
  • Testing designs and ideas in state-of-the-art HWIL/HITL labs
  • Providing technical expertise in one or more of the following:
  • Digital signal processing
  • Radio wave propagation
  • Threat RF systems exploitation
  • RF and/or digital hardware design and integration
  • Waveform development and modeling
  • Electronic Warfare (EW) systems
  • Guidance and Navigation techniques

Required Qualifications for This Role:
  • B.S. in a Science/Engineering field (e.g. Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering) with 5+ years of directly related technical experience
  • Outstanding communication skills in conveying complex technical issues and in providing comprehensive written, oral, and/or digital products
  • Motivated self-starter who can work independently and in a collaborative team environment with minimal guidance
  • Experience with the design and/or testing of RF devices
  • Proficiency developing engineering-level code in MATLAB and/or Python
  • Test and Evaluation experience
  • Top Secret clearance with in-scope SSBI

Strong Candidates for this Role Will Also Have:
  • M.S. or PhD with 8+ years of related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to apply experience to non-textbook problems
  • Experience working on classified and special access programs
  • Experience developing systems for military applications (e.g. radar, data links)
  • Experience with EW techniques and systems (e.g. jamming, countermeasures, and DRFMs)
