Job Title: Workday Data Conversion Developer

Position Type: Contract

Location: Remote


Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Workday Data Conversion Developer to support the data migration workstream for a Workday implementation project. This technical role involves developing, executing, and validating data extracts from legacy systems (PeopleSoft HCM, Finance, and Payroll), transforming and preparing data files, and supporting successful data loads into Workday. The developer will collaborate with both functional and technical project teams under the direction of the Data Migration Lead.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute data extracts from legacy PeopleSoft HCM, Finance, and Payroll systems.
  • Transform and cleanse source data using ETL tools, scripts, or Workday utilities based on migration requirements.
  • Build and validate data files for loading into Workday using tools such as EIB and Workday Studio.
  • Participate in data mapping, validation, and reconciliation activities throughout the migration lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with functional, technical, and business stakeholders to resolve data-related issues and clarify requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve errors while tuning the performance of data migration processes.
  • Support data validation, parallel testing, and cutover activities during migration cycles.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to data conversion processes, scripts, and mappings.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in data conversion, ETL, or data integration for ERP/HCM/Finance systems.
  • Proficiency with PeopleSoft data structures (HCM, Finance, Payroll) and experience extracting data from Oracle/SQL databases.
  • Experience with ETL tools such as Workday EIB, Workday Studio, Talend, Informatica, Alteryx, or equivalent.
  • Strong capabilities in data transformation, cleansing, and reconciliation.
  • Proven experience preparing data files for Workday loads.
  • Familiarity with data migration best practices, testing, and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Workday data conversion projects, particularly in higher education settings.
  • Knowledge of Workday integrations, including EIB, Studio, and Core Connectors.
  • Understanding of higher education data structures and business processes.
  • Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting abilities.
