Working under the supervision of the Tech Project Manager, you will collaborate with managers and staff to help the company solve current technology challenges for internal and external users.
Help identify and eliminate current bugs so employees can seamlessly complete tax returns and financial statements. Help document I-T instructions and policies and appropriate training as needed for internal staff.
Technical Support Specialist Job Responsibilities
- Installs, modifies, and troubleshoots computer hardware and software systems (including printers, peripherals, network, and phone systems).
- Resolves tickets representing staff-generated technical requests or problems in conjunction with 3rd party tech services partner.
- Maintains system functionality by testing computer components.
- Consults with users to determine appropriate hardware and software needs and assists in placing orders.
- Maximizes computer systems capabilities by studying technical applications and making recommendations.
- Evaluates vendor-supplied software by studying user objectives and testing software compatibility with existing hardware and programs.
- Trains users on new software in person or through a variety of tutorial channels, including self-guided training videos, user manuals, and digital instruction pages, often in collaboration with technical writers.
Technical Support Specialist Qualifications/Skills:
- Excellent hands-on problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- The ability to communicate technical information in an accessible manner to non-technical employees.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in writing and in person.
- A customer service and process-improvement mindset.
- Software maintenance and testing capability.
- Basic knowledge of networking principles and operating systems.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Degree in information technology (not required).
- Experience with accounting/tax software is a plus (i.e. QuickBooks and Thomson Reuters)
- Certification in Microsoft or equivalent is advantageous.
- Prior experience in tech support, desktop support, or a similar role.
