Description
SAIC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA. This position requires an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
SAIC provides full-service facility management oversight to a major organization in the Intelligence Community. We conduct end-to-end project management, facility engineering, and technical support for project execution, facility operations and maintenance, strategic planning, and budget planning.
Job responsibilities for this Mechanical Engineer include, but are not limited to:
- Develop short- and long-term plans for maximizing efficiency and performance of the mechanical systems supporting the sites around the world.
- Perform design analyses and calculations for mechanical projects and conduct comparative cost analysis.
- Perform technical reviews of mechanical engineering designs, calculations, analyses, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with project objectives and customer and industry-recognized standards.
- Provide technical support to Project Manager during the execution of their projects.
- Develop, assist, and/or provide rationale in the development of capital budget proposals.
- Review project submittals, shop drawings, and samples of materials and components to ensure compliance with contract and project documentation.
- Participate in the review of maintenance procedures and policies.
- Develop Best Practices to be applied across all areas of the organization.
- Provide technical expertise and work with cross-functional teams for troubleshooting failures, repairs, and anomalies.
- Optimize equipment uptime, reliability, and efficiency by analyzing equipment performance data and maintenance practices.
Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Poly.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 14 years of experience with federal projects or 12 years of experience in industry.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations (e.g., heating and cooling load, hydronic pressure drop, static pressure drop, NPSH, psychrometric, utility utilization projections).
- Knowledge of mechanical codes and guidelines (e.g., SMACNA, ASHRAE, IBC, IMC, IPC, LEED, Indoor Air Quality Standards).
- Knowledge of design analysis and troubleshooting of mechanical facilities infrastructure (e.g., HVAC, chilled water, steam, EMCS, heating water, ventilation, air distribution, plumbing, energy management, data centers).
- Ability to perform cost-benefit analysis and life-cycle cost analyses.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) License.
Desired Qualifications:
- Registered Professional Engineer.
- Master's degree in business or engineering.
- Some Knowledge of Technical software packages (e.g., AutoCAD, SixSigma, Pipeflow, ARCHGIS, Trane Trace).
