Hybrid - Laurel, MD

Duties / Responsibilities

Work closely with business stakeholders to capture requirements and align them with ServiceNow s out-of-the-box capabilities.

Implement and configure Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) core applications: Demand Management: Configure intake forms, assessment workflows, scoring models, and demand states. Project Management: Set up Planning Console, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), project templates, document templates, cost plans, time tracking, and reporting. Resource Management: Build resource plans, assign roles, and configure availability and utilization reporting.

Align all SPM configurations with the CMDB and other ServiceNow platforms (e.g., ITSM, APM). Configure Performance Analytics dashboards and create role-based views for PMO, executives, and team members.

Support legacy data migration or integration strategy for Microsoft Project Online.

Prepare the platform for future enablement of:

Portfolio Workbench

Scenario Planning

Innovation Funnel

Strategic Planning modules

Ensure adherence to out-of-the-box functionality and platform upgradeability. Deliver documentation, user training, and knowledge transfer to internal teams.

Preferred Experience/Qualification/Knowledge Skills

a. Education: Bachelor s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related scientific or technical field, and three (5) years minimum of relevant experience

b. General Experience:

Work Experience: 5+ years of proven experience as a ServiceNow Developer with a strong understanding of the platform's architecture and capabilities. Project Experience: Demonstrated experience working on large-scale projects in diverse team environments focusing on ServiceNow development tools and techniques, including scripting in JavaScript, Jelly, and AngularJS.

c. Specialized Experience

  • Hands-on experience implementing and supporting ServiceNow SPM (formerly ITBM), including Demand, Project, and Resource modules.
  • Strong knowledge of project portfolio management methodologies (PPM, SAFe, Agile).
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow Performance Analytics and CMDB relationships.
  • Ability to translate governance and planning requirements into platform configuration.
  • Experience working in ServiceNow environments with ITSM, APM, or CMDB integrations. ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist SPM (preferred).

d. Skillset

  • Integration Expertise: Experience integrating ServiceNow with other systems using APIs, web services, and middleware technologies.
  • Workflow and Automation: Ability to design and implement automated workflows to streamline processes.
  • Cloud Technologies: Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and platforms (e.g., Azure)
  • ServiceNow Platform Expertise: Hands-on experience with ServiceNow development tools and techniques.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially when working with large, complex datasets.
