Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking experienced Structural Analysis Engineers for the Design Center South, which is a multi-function Engineering Organization with a mission statement to provide engineering solutions via a highly skilled flexible workforce and cutting edge technologies for the advancement of the Boeing Enterprise. The Design Center provides engineering support to Enterprise wide projects/programs and is a flexible team that strategically adapts to emerging opportunities.

Position Responsibilities:

Mid-Level (Level 3):
  • Perform detailed structural analysis to determine structural integrity (margins of safety) using classical techniques, Finite Element Analysis, and Boeing tools to support layout development and engineering release
  • Observance of program standards and requirements to ensure structural integrity, and documentation of stress reports
  • Support trade studies to optimize structure and meet program requirements
  • Document structural analyses and data required to show compliance with Boeing, customer and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment
  • Support and confirmation of fracture assessments for service life requirements

Senior (Level 4):

In addition to Level 3 responsibilities, the Senior role:
  • Lead trade studies to optimize structure and meet program requirements
  • Lead development, integration and documentation of structural requirements to establish system design
  • Guide product design and verify structural integrity by using and developing analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance
  • Lead development of test plans and configurations, support test execution and analyze/report test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
  • Support in-service products by leading investigations into failures and analyzing improvements
  • Coordinate with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment
  • Support and confirmation of fracture assessments for service life requirements
  • Develop analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret/SCI clearance Post Start is required
  • Proven expertise in stress analysis is essential
  • Comprehensive knowledge of load development, material properties, design and manufacturing standards, sizing, and analysis methodologies
  • Strong proficiency in static strength, durability, and damage tolerance analyses
  • Ability to synthesize data from multiple sources to formulate actionable conclusions and recommendations within the department
  • Expert-level proficiency in utilizing stress analysis software and tools
  • Capable of performing tasks independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience with signature authority for engineering drawings and stress analysis (SCNs)
  • Exceptional technical writing skills, particularly in strength analysis reporting
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex, nuanced results in a clear, concise manner that is easily understood by a wide audience
  • Hands-on experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software, specifically NASTRAN and ABAQUS

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Prior experience leading structural analysis teams is a must.
  • Demonstrated experience working with aerospace structural hardware components
  • Essential experience with BCA Stress analysis
  • Experience with static analysis, forced frequency response analysis, random vibration analysis and windmilling analysis
  • Experience with various software applications for performing Boeing stress analysis (e.g. IAS, CSW, BDM's, etc.). Proficiency in coding is a plus.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis - PATRAN/NASTRAN / ABAQUS and Hypermesh post-processing
  • Thorough understanding of applicable aerospace design and testing standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the desire for significant interaction with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Adaptability to rethink existing paradigms and take on a new work place culture that focuses on efficiency and team-centric self-determination
  • Knowledge in Mechanical/Hydraulics Systems, Primary Flight Control, High Lift, Environmental Control Systems, Electrical Installation, Flight Deck and Fuels
  • Familiarity with launch vehicle structural design and analysis is desirable

Summary pay range for Mid-Level: $95,200.00 - $128,800.00

Summary pay range for Senior: $115,600.00 - $156,400.00
