Job Details

One of our HealthCare clients in New Jersey is looking for a Network Engineer.

Duration: Long-term

Hourly: Depends on experience (W2)

Responsibilities:

  • Network Support and Maintenance: Provide day-to-day network support and maintenance, ensuring stability and performance of the organization's network infrastructure across multiple sites.
  • EVPN and VXLAN Support: Assist in the configuration and management of EVPN and VXLAN environments, under the guidance of senior engineers, to support scalable and secure network segmentation.
  • BGP and EIGRP Routing: Support the implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of BGP and EIGRP routing protocols to ensure efficient network traffic routing and connectivity.
  • Switching and VRFs: Configure and maintain Layer 2/Layer 3 switches, VLANs, and Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF) to ensure proper network segmentation and isolation for different business functions.
  • VPN and Firewall Management: Assist in configuring and supporting VPNs (site-to-site and remote access) and firewall policies (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA), ensuring secure network access for remote users and inter-site communications.
  • Prisma SD-WAN from Palo Alto: Assist with the configuration, management, and troubleshooting of Prisma SD-WAN to optimize traffic routing and enhance network performance for remote sites and branch offices.
  • Load Balancing and DDI: Support the configuration and management of load balancers (e.g, Citrix ADC) and assist in administering DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) services such as BlueCat to ensure efficient IP address management.
  • Juniper MIST Wireless: Assist in the management and troubleshooting of the Juniper MIST wireless network infrastructure to ensure seamless and secure wireless connectivity across the enterprise
  • Network Security: Work alongside senior engineers to implement network security measures, such as access control lists (ACLs), firewalls, and VPNs, ensuring network integrity and compliance with security policies.
  • Troubleshooting and Escalation: Act as the primary escalation point for Level 1 support and provide resolution for intermediate network issues. Escalate more complex problems to Level 3 engineers as necessary.
  • Documentation: Maintain and update network documentation related to configurations, procedures, and changes, ensuring all information is accurate and easily accessible.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with senior engineers and other IT teams to support ongoing projects, network upgrades, and daily operations.
  • Learning and Development: Proactively develop technical skills and knowledge by keeping up-to-date with industry trends and obtaining relevant certifications in networking technologies.

Vendor-Specific Technologies:

  • Arista and Cisco: Assist in configuring and troubleshooting switches and routers from Arista and Cisco, ensuring network reliability.
  • Juniper and Ciena: Provide support for networking equipment from Juniper and Ciena, focusing on routing and transport technologies.
  • Palo Alto and Cisco Firewalls: Help manage firewall configurations and policies to protect network infrastructure.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in network infrastructure support, with hands-on experience in technologies such as BGP, EIGRP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, load balancing, and DDI.
  • Experience working with networking solutions from vendors such as Arista, Juniper, Palo Alto, Cisco, BlueCat, and Ciena, with exposure to Prisma SD-WAN from Palo Alto and Juniper MIST wireless.

Technical Skills:

  • Solid understanding of Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP), VLANs, and VRFs.
  • Experience with firewall management, VPN setup, and load balancing technologies.
  • Familiarity with DDI technologies (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) such as BlueCat.
  • Basic knowledge of Prisma SD-WAN for traffic optimization and Juniper MIST wireless for managing wireless networks.

Network Security:

  • Basic understanding of network security principles, including firewalls, VPNs, and access control lists.

Troubleshooting Skills:

  • Strong troubleshooting abilities, with proven experience in resolving intermediate network issues and escalating more complex problems appropriately.

Communication:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Collaboration:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior engineers, IT teams, and external vendors to support and enhance the network infrastructure.

Certifications:

  • Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA, Palo Alto Networks Certified, BlueCat DDI certification, Prisma SD-WAN certification, or other networking-related certifications are highly desirable.
