The Network Programming and Scheduling team needs a very senior BSA to take ownership for their program scheduling software. They will be the chief interface for the product to the varied teams that use the software (Sports Group, Entertainment Group, News Group). A Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) for studio network programming and scheduling acts as a crucial link between business stakeholders and IT development teams. This role is vital for optimizing how a media company manages and schedules its content, from acquisition and rights management to delivery across various networks and platforms.
The ideal candidate combines a strong technical and systems background with deep knowledge of the media and entertainment industry.
Job summary
The Senior BSA, Studio Network Programming and Scheduling, is responsible for leading the analysis, design, and implementation of technology solutions that support the content lifecycle, from acquisition to broadcast and on-demand delivery. This role works with business units to understand needs, define requirements for complex systems, and improve business processes to increase efficiency and data accuracy. The Senior BSA will also act as a subject matter expert for scheduling and content management systems, driving strategic technology initiatives.
Key responsibilities
Analysis and requirements management
- Serve as the primary liaison between business users in programming, scheduling, and operations and the IT development and support teams.
- Elicit, analyze, and document complex business requirements, functional specifications, and user stories for content and scheduling systems.
- Facilitate workshops and meetings with stakeholders to define project scope, system needs, and process improvements.
- Conduct gap analysis between current and future state processes to identify opportunities for automation and efficiency.
Solution and system implementation
- Manage the full systems development life cycle (SDLC) for medium-to-large projects, including planning, testing, and deployment.
- Collaborate with developers, architects, and quality assurance teams to design robust, scalable, and high-performing solutions.
- Oversee the quality assurance and user acceptance testing (UAT) processes to ensure solutions meet business needs and perform as required.
- Provide ongoing support for existing systems, including troubleshooting issues and implementing enhancements.
Process improvement and strategy
- Identify and analyze business and system processes related to programming and scheduling to recommend improvements.
- Assist in shaping the business analysis standards and methodologies for the department, including best practice templates and optimal processes.
- Lead efforts to streamline workflows related to content metadata, rights management, and scheduling across different platforms (e.g., linear, VOD, streaming).
Technical and industry expertise
- Develop a deep understanding of media content management and scheduling processes, from content acquisition to final broadcast.
- Provide expertise on industry-specific systems and technologies for broadcast and digital media workflows.
- Manage relationships with third-party software vendors for configuring and customizing applications.
Qualifications
Required
*** Scheduling Software is a must have.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in the media and entertainment industry.
- Skills:
- Expertise in requirements gathering, process mapping, and functional design.
- Experience with Agile development and project management methodologies.
- Familiarity with media-specific systems (e.g., traffic and billing, content management, rights management) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with project management and workflow tools (e.g., JIRA).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and digital distribution models (e.g., DTC, VOD).
