How will you make an impact?

This role is part of the Finance Project Team that supports integration projects across several groups in Thermo Fisher primarily LSG and BPG with the opportunity to expand the role into other groups on an ad-hoc basis. This individual contributor role will support a wide and diverse portfolio of projects within the commercial/FP&A domain including the integration of commercial data sets such as revenue, bookings and backlog into core internal management reporting systems. These projects help the internal customer with better insights, accurate data for decision making and allow more advanced analytics to be performed on that validated data once it is in our core systems.

Within this project-based role there will be full ownership of the end to end project lifecycle starting with value case creation, requirements gathering and then co-ordinating testing cycles along with a heavy focus on user adoption and change management as well as hosting lessons learned and demonstrating a continuous improvement mindset. The work of this role is dynamic with high-visibility and impact to our diverse customers, providing you an exciting opportunity to gain valuable regional and global experiences and professional growth.

This is a fast-paced and constantly evolving role that requires the ability to multitask and deliver on commitments, superb communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with others within and outside of the finance.

What will you do?

  • Be the face to internal customers of the project from inception to closure.
  • Build a healthy pipeline of projects through regular roadmap meetings.
  • Focus on the user adoption area throughout the project life cycle
  • Be the lead for change management on the assigned projects ensuring there is no business disruption as projects go live.
  • Partner with our excellent data validation team in Vilnius to ensure projects are thoroughly tested and our IT partners received real time feedback on data quality issues during the testing phases.
  • Identify areas for improved Data Governance for future projects.
  • Be a champion for exploring new technology such as AI.

How will you get here?

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting , Economics or other relevant degrees
  • 10+ years of experience in FP&A ideally within a project role
  • Prior experience in a large highly matrixed global company
  • Proven track record of understanding and implementing customer requirements by acting as a bridge between IT partners and the end customer within finance
  • A bias towards focusing on the change impact of finance projects and preparing the teams for these changes to ensure greater adoption.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple projects within the project life cycle at one time.
  • Ability to work within a highly matrixed environment and influence others
  • An expert in FP&A systems such as HFM and Data Warehouses.
  • Experience in integrating acquisitions into core finance FP&A systems
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to provide updates in a concise informative manner.
  • Identify process and control gaps and champion improvement initiatives through Practical Process Improvement (PPI)

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 20% domestic/international travel required.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $130,000.00-$175,000.00.
