Project Overview:
Our client is leading the technical upgrade of their critical Financial and Procurement systems for a major branch of the Department of Defense (DoD), transitioning from SAP ECC to S/4HANA. The project focuses on a fit-to-standard approach, minimizing customizations and aligning with S/4HANA s standard configuration. Key efforts include defining requirements for the upgrade and supporting business process re-engineering.
Description:
We are seeking an experienced Budget-to-Report (B2R) Subject Matter Expert (SME) Consultant to support financial reporting initiatives, enhance SAP FM/FI operations. This individual will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to optimize financial reporting, compliance, and system integration within SAP and related financial platforms.

Responsibilities include:

• Serve as the Budget-to-Report SME, guiding budget formulation, allocation, execution, and monitoring across appropriations and fund types.
• Define, document, and improve reporting requirements in alignment with federal, DoD, and Navy-specific compliance standards.
• Provide expert-level knowledge in SAP Funds Management (FM) and Financial Accounting (FI) modules, including configuration, reporting, and reconciliation tasks.
• Ensure data accuracy and consistency in financial reports, audits, and compliance documentation.
• Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of internal controls related to financial reporting.
• Support change management, end-user training, and knowledge transfer efforts across Budget to Report process areas.

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in finance operations, with a strong focus on Budget-to-Report (B2R) processes.
• Proven experience with S/4HANA implementations, preferably within the federal government or A&D sectors.
• Hands-on expertise in SAP FM/FI modules, with proven success in delivering complex financial reporting solutions.
• Experience deploying functional and technical subject-matter expertise in a particular relevant field in support of State or Federal Government agencies or large, complex companies (greater than 1,000) employees
• In-depth knowledge of Department of, Federal Public Sector, or government regulated industry experience (i.e.: Aerospace & Defense) experience required. Army or Navy experience is preferred.
• Interim or Active Secret Clearance Required.
