Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Storage Administrator / Cloud Architect to lead the design, deployment, and support of hybrid cloud environments in support of Navy systems and operations. This role combines deep expertise in cloud infrastructure with hands-on experience in enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset and be capable of providing both architectural direction and Tier III operational support for a secure and resilient IT ecosystem.

This is a critical position on a high-visibility program and requires a strong understanding of DoD security and compliance requirements in cloud and hybrid environments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement enterprise-level cloud and hybrid storage architectures utilizing Microsoft Azure, AWS, or DoD-specific cloud platforms.
  • Develop and execute cloud migration strategies, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to Navy IT standards.
  • Establish and maintain data governance frameworks, including data classification, lifecycle management, and retention policies.
  • Integrate and manage backup, replication, and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, ensuring data resiliency and rapid recovery capabilities.
  • Ensure full compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards, including RMF and FedRAMP, and assist in supporting ATO/accreditation efforts.
  • Provide Tier III technical support for performance, availability, and configuration issues related to cloud storage, virtualization, and data services.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and development teams to ensure secure and efficient system design and operations.
  • Maintain documentation, SOPs, and diagrams to support lifecycle management and operational continuity.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in IT systems administration, architecture, or engineering with a focus on data storage and virtualization.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in cloud architecture, including infrastructure-as-code, provisioning, and performance tuning.
  • Deep working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, AWS, and/or DoD cloud platforms, including hybrid cloud design patterns.
  • Experience with enterprise storage solutions (NetApp, Dell EMC, etc.), virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is preferred.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a DoD Cyber Workforce (CSWF) baseline certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, or equivalent).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or similar.
  • Familiarity with STIGs, RMF, and DoD accreditation processes.
  • Experience in supporting mission-critical systems for the U.S. Navy or other DoD entities.
  • Proficiency with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or PowerShell scripting.
