Job Details

Our client, a leading medical devices manufacturing company, is looking for a Staff Accountant. This is for an initial duration of 12 months and is located in Redwood City, CA.

Job Type: Contract (Candidates must be able to work on W2 without VISA sponsorship)

Description:

  • The Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring that all service and cost accounting transactions are reported timely and accurately, including balance sheet activities and reconciliations.
  • Key responsibilities include participating in month-end closing activities, supporting the service organization and manufacturing factory activities, attending physical inventory counts, and maintaining E&O reserves.
  • The role also involves assisting in department projects and contributing to the professional growth of both the team and the company.
  • Additionally, the Staff Accountant will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance process efficiencies and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Review service contracts to ensure revenue is properly recognized or deferred.
  • Collaborate with the service organization to review and timely record revenue related to Preventive Maintenance (PMs), Trainings, and Qualifications.
  • Review and track warranty returns to ensure instruments are returned in a timely manner
  • Analyze and maintain cost accounting and inventory systems including product costing, inventory control, variance analysis and calculation of excess and obsolete inventory
  • Oversee/review preparation of monthly journal entries, Balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Participate in PI activities for all locations.
  • Support the Global Annual Cost Roll by working directly with site product line managers to review new standards and their impacts on margin, inventory revaluation and Capitalized Variance netting, along with updating Labor and Overhead rates.
  • Be an advisor to the teams responsible for inventory activities and manufacturing side. Drive process improvements.
  • Manage reporting to Global Ops and Management team.
  • Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.
  • Assists with annual SOX test, internal and external audits along with corporate balance sheet reviews.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • 2 to 3 years relevant accounting experience is a must, as well as strong financial/operational systems knowledge
  • Service or Cost Accounting experience desirable
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Able to work without direct supervision
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Prior experience with ERP system like Oracle R12 is a plus
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level using Excel and proficient in all other Microsoft products

The hourly rate range for this position is between $34 - $37/ hour, without benefits
