LAN Admin (Desktop)


Location: Detroit, MI (4 days onsite/1 remote)


Duration: 1 year contract



Softworld is currently recruiting for a LAN Admin (Desktop to work onsite in Detroit. The ideal candidate for the LAN Admin (Desktop) role should be an adaptable IT support technician with strong troubleshooting skills and excellent communication. They must efficiently handle both onsite and remote support, and quickly adapt to new technologies. Familiarity with Windows 10, Office365, and enterprise computing, as well as certifications like A+, Network+, MCSE, or MCSA are highly preferred.



Job Description:


Provides support to end users on a variety of issues. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems. Responds to telephone calls, email, walkup and virtual chat to address end-user requests for technical support. The IT Support Technician is responsible for the logging and tracking of all Service desk requests using our designated application. Candidate must be highly motivated and customer focused. Will require at least four days to onsite.



Primary Responsibilities:



  • Responds to end-user requests via phone, email, Bomgar, Teams for business chat, in a timely and professional manner.

  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots hardware, network, and software problems.

  • Administer network and application passwords and permissions in an Active Directory environment.

  • Create issue tickets using our Ticket system to track system incidents and requests.

  • Support and configure mobile devices and apps for Android/iOS such as Email client and Intune.

  • Able to clearly communicate with end users during the support process.

  • Access remote desktop tools to assist employees at remote sites.

  • Provide first tier support for other peripheral equipment such as printers, scanners, copiers and audio visual systems (conference rooms).

  • Ability to lift and move desktop PC equipment.

  • On-call rotations, schedule may vary.

  • Able to travel out of state or short notice, possibly overnight as needed.



Experience Requirements:



  • Experience with desktop operating systems including Windows 10.

  • Microsoft Office365 products.

  • Knowledge of basic computer hardware and application software.

  • Possesses excellent communication skills.

  • The ability to multi-task, set priorities and work both independently and in group settings.

  • Process information logically and quickly solves problems.

  • Excellent analytical thinking skills.

  • Knowledge of enterprise computing.

  • Ability to learn new concepts and technology in a fast-paced environment.

  • Able to use problem-solving techniques to mitigate issues.

  • Can be trusted to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.



Education:



  • A High school diploma is required.

  • An Associate's degree or greater in a computer or information technology related field is highly preferred.

  • IT certifications and education are a plus (A+, Network+, MCSE, MCSA, )
