General Summary:

The Snapdragon chipsets have pushed the power envelope of Mobile products with more and more complex use cases and workloads. This has introduced significant challenges in extending the battery life of the product on one spectrum and achieving superior performance within the device thermal and power envelope on the other spectrum. Coming up with diverse and innovative approaches in software is very critical in solving these broad and deep cutting-edge technical problems. Interested in playing a key role in test validation of power & thermal performance of next generation Snapdragon products? Join Qualcomm's Power & Thermal test team to work on bleeding edge Snapdragon products. Join QUALCOMM's team in San Diego, CA, and work closely with System engineers, SW/HW developers & test engineers in a world-class team.

In this role, the candidate is expected to own and drive the testing and initial analysis of complex system level use cases spanning across various Application processor and Modem technologies and coming up with solutions to improve performance of the mobile products under the power and thermal constraints. The scope of work spans across a variety of workloads touching every aspect of the silicon including CPU/GPU/AI benchmarks, Productivity use cases, Streaming scenarios, Gaming use cases, Media streaming and High-throughput Modem use cases. An ideal candidate would have prior experience working on Mobile or Windows products and/or experience with power/thermal/performance analysis at the product level. In addition, the candidate is also expected to contribute to: Development of automation, handling of test equipment for various Mobile & Compute use cases. Perform system level analysis after gaining strong understanding of software power/thermal management techniques. Ability to use data analytics/ ML is a plus to enhance power and thermal system level analysis.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in mobile technologies areas (e.g., WAN modem, CPU, camera, , graphics etc)
  • Hands on experience in mobile device testing, handling of test equipment and data collection
  • Experience in software design, development, and commercialization of System-level power features and interest in System and analysis
  • Solid foundation in Electrical Engineering - Systems/HW background with a good understanding of microprocessor and common SoC hardware blocks (Interconnects, Display, Graphics, etc.)
  • Experience in automation framework development in Python
  • Strong familiarity with ARM architecture
  • Good understanding of System On Chip architectural concepts
  • Experience in Power/Thermal/Performance optimizations to improve product level KPIs.
  • Real-time operating systems, multi-threaded processor architectures
  • Communication skills, effective team player, able to work independently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skill
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a related field is a plus

$104,000.00 - $156,000.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
