Job Description:

We are seeking a Lead Java Engineer for a W2/1099 contract role based in Seattle, WA. This is an on-site position aligned with a hybrid schedule (3 days in office per week). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java/Spring Boot development, hands-on cloud experience (Azure preferred), and a history of working in multicultural, enterprise environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable applications using Java 17+ and Spring Boot v3+.

  • Lead small development teams, mentor junior engineers, and support cross-functional collaboration.

  • Coordinate with operations, platform, and CI/CD teams for release and infrastructure management.

  • Ensure high-quality code through rigorous testing, prototyping, and adherence to SDLC best practices.

  • Participate in system/integration testing, code reviews, and architecture discussions.

  • Continuously improve systems and processes for scalability, performance, and reliability.

Must-Have Skills:

  • Java 17+ with Functional Programming experience

  • Spring Boot v3.0.0+

  • Python (Spark) experience with Databricks

  • Solid understanding of NoSQL & RDBMS fundamentals

  • Experience with Non-Functional Testing and Automation Testing

  • Proficient with Git, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines

  • Strong Kubernetes fundamentals (scaling, deployment, config)

  • Azure Fundamentals knowledge

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in complex enterprise software environments

  • Comfortable working in a multicultural team setting

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Hands-on experience supporting global application deployments

Contract Terms:

  • Only W2 or 1099 candidates (No C2C)

  • Must be able to work 3 days a week onsite in Seattle
