Our Systems Reliability Engineering (SRE) team helps elevate SRE practices at Disney, promoting and onboarding new technologies, solving sophisticated problems and integrating with next generation digital platforms.

This Manager of Systems Reliability Engineering will be responsible to build and lead an impactful team of SREs, supporting a variety of sophisticated systems, infrastructure and application Disney.

What You Will Do
  • Lead, communicate, and drive the overall SRE vision and building a DevOps culture.
  • Partner with executive leadership within Global Information Security to influence the adoption and selection of tools, processes, and settings to ensure the security and availability of image-based compute resources used to support Disney applications and services.
  • Develop partnerships with business segments within Disney for the purposes of collaboration, toil elimination, and product/process improvements associated with the hosting and management of operating system and observability platforms.
  • Directly oversee, mentor, & develop SREs on technical leadership, reliability engineering, agile project management, design engineering, software engineering, architecture, problem analysis, customer service, optimization, and teamwork
  • Technical analysis, cost and effort estimation, production environment platform/system design, architectural fit and compliance, resource schedules, delivery achievements, collaboration with other engineering managers, and overall production environment quality.
  • Supervise a team of engineers including standard day-to-day responsibilities of the team, career management, and setting operational direction
  • Act as a hands-on top level systems reliability engineer over enterprise level projects
  • Partner closely with business and technology leadership in delivering outstanding systems
  • Own coordination, development, communication, & strategy sessions with all levels of the organization including senior executives

Required Qualifications & Skills
  • 8+ years of experience within System Reliability Engineering roles
  • 4+ years experience overseeing engineering teams that support and deploy hosting infrastructure products or services (Compute, Storage, and Data Protection)
  • 2+ years experience overseeing engineering teams that support and deploy hosting cloud-based products including both public & private cloud solutions
  • Detailed knowledge of core internet protocols (ex. TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP)
  • Understanding of programming languages (Python, Go, C++, Ruby, Java) & web application development platforms, tools, and utilities
  • Understanding of configuration management frameworks (ex. Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Salt)
  • Experience with scripting infrastructure tools (Terraform, Cloud Formation)
  • Experience testing and reviewing components such as Jenkins & GitLab, and experience with source & bit repositories (Git, Maven, Artifactory, Nexus)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, and a consistent track record developing & delivering presentations geared for Senior and Executive Management
  • Validated ability to manage budgets
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study and/or equivalent work experience

The hiring range for this position in Burbank is $164,492 to $220,600 per year and in Seattle is $172,300 to $231,100 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
