Job Details

Piper Companies is seeking a Utilities Systems Engineer to join a growing leader in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology space for an onsite position in Clayton, North Carolina (NC) . The Utilities Systems Engineer will verify and maintain accurate documentation and data integrity between physical utility systems and SAP records through systematic audits, field inspections, and technical drawing reviews to ensure compliance with GMP standards in a biotech manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities of the Utilities Systems Engineer include:
  • Lead comprehensive SAP system audits for utility infrastructure data, ensuring alignment between physical assets and digital records while maintaining compliance with GMP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Perform systematic verification of utility system documentation, including P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and equipment specifications, coordinating with technical teams to resolve discrepancies
  • Execute field walk-downs to validate utility system components against SAP records, including piping tags, equipment labels, and system identification markers
  • Develop and maintain standardized procedures for data verification workflows, creating detailed reports on findings and implementing corrective actions to maintain data integrity
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Maintenance, Quality) to establish best practices for utility systems documentation and drive continuous improvement in data management processes


Qualifications for the Utilities Systems Engineer include:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in commissioning and qualification of clean utilities systems in the biopharma industry.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards for clean utilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.


Compensation for the Utilities Systems Engineer:
  • Salary Range: $70-$80/hour (USD)
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, sick leave if required by law, and 401K
