The highly successful Analog Devices Automotive Gigabit Multimedia Serial Links (GMSL) team develops industry-leading IC solutions to transport high-bandwidth video and other data between sensors, processors, and displays within the vehicle.
We are seeking a Systems Design & Architecture Engineer to define the technologies and products that will drive our continued market success looking ahead 3-5 years.
This exciting position offers the opportunity to gain deep domain technology and market knowledge by collaborating with our customers, working with our engineering teams, and performing independent research. You will work closely with our IC design team to evaluate technical possibilities and with our business management team to develop sound business cases for new intellectual property and products.
GMSL is being opened as a standardized automotive industry interconnect technology via the OpenGMSL Association (OGA) standard. The OGA was incorporated as a non-profit organization in early April, 2025. Key responsibilities in this role include providing technical representation for ADI in the OGA, and contributing to various aspects of the standard's technical development.
In this role, you will grow to become a trusted system-level technical advisor to ADI's customers, members of the OGA, and OGA work groups. Your contributions will extend our product line growth by creating solutions that make ADI GMSL the compelling choice for automotive OEMs.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop deep expertise on the GMSL PHY, link layer, and protocol adapters
- Provide technical expertise to the OpenGMSL Association (OGA) standard.
- Actively contribute to OGA work groups and guide standards development.
- Act as a resource for ADI and other member companies in the OGA ecosystem.
- Develop in-depth understanding of future automotive SerDes market requirements.
- Perform independent technology research.
- Collaborate with eco-system partners and align on technologies.
- Develop system models and run behavioral simulations to evaluate system architectural tradeoffs
- Propose technologies and products to support customer requirements.
- Guide customers on technology selection and architecture development.
- Perform competitive analysis of near-term and long-term solutions.
- Create comprehensive product definitions for high-speed serial link integrated circuits, including architecture, key specifications, feature set, etc.
- Create technical documentation including datasheets and customer presentations.
- Provide technical support for responses to customer RFI/RFQ.
- Assist in creation of product line technology and product roadmaps, including functional safety and security.
- Promote OpenGMSL and ADI via trade show presentations, white papers, articles, etc.
- Travel globally to engage with customers and technology partners.
Basic Qualifications:
- Excellent listening and perception skills
- Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and work within a cross-functional team
- 10+ years of work experience with B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with general analog and digital design and system architectures
- Ability to travel up to 2-3 weeks per quarter, including 2-3 international trips/year.
Highly desirable
- 10+ years of applicable automotive applications, electronics design, or product definition experience
- M.Sc. or Ph. D. degree
- High-speed SerDes or RF systems experience
- Automotive ethernet experience or involvement in other standardized communication systems
- Knowledge of digital video transport
- Knowledge of serial interfaces - I2C, SPI, Ethernet, HDMI
- Functional safety expertise
- Cybersecurity expertise
