Primary Responsibilities:

  • Sets team direction, resolves problems, and provides guidance to members of own team
  • Develop a deep understanding of data and business processes related to external payer data to support Quality programs, initiatives and performance reporting
  • Participate in creating integrated data solutions across the organization
  • Identify trends and opportunities for growth through analysis of complex datasets
  • Use data expertise to analyze data and provide solutions to optimizing the performance of operations and data processing tasks
  • Drive strategies for back-end data operations
  • Design data integration processes with automation, process controls, and monitoring tools to ensure data quality
  • Validate data pipelines and provide design inputs to build scalable data and analytics processes/data flows
  • Provide accurate data to reporting teams to enable them to build elegant dashboards and reports for complex analytic results
  • Provide quality checks to ensure high standard and accurate data
  • Build best practice data quality monitoring to ensure all data/report products exceed customer expectations
  • Incorporate quality into the planning/design phases; build quality assurance activities; utilize data audits; identify and fix root causes vs short term solutions
  • Design and review data structures for data management purposes with team
  • Support team members by leading projects, sharing ideas and reviewing work of others. Work with internal business partners to interpret, develop, & document data requirements and specifications, provide data-driven direction & guidance for Stars and clinical quality improvement
  • Anticipate end user data needs, be curious and proactively communicate ideas to stakeholders
  • Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Pro-actively identifies patterns in issues and research root-cause to improve overall quality

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 4+ years of experience working with healthcare data and reporting
  • 2+ years of Cloud experience using Snowflake, APIs, Kafka, Azure Databricks (Terraforms), GitHub
  • 1+ years of previous manager and/or team lead experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Database Management, Information Systems, Computer Science or similar
  • SQL Proficiency: Advanced skills in SQL (T-SQL PL/SQL, SnowSQL),
  • Experience with ETL tools (SSIS, Python, Azure Data Factory)
  • Experience with data integration and data modeling techniques
  • Experience working with healthcare data and reporting with STARs/HEDIS
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with agile methodology
  • Source control proficiency with GitHub
  • Ability to work on multiple workstreams in parallel
  • Good demonstrable skills in: Analysis, Verbal Communication, Written Communication, Organization, Strategy, Persuasion
  • Data Architecture experience
  • Experience with Alteryx
  • Proficiency with Kafka and application programming interfaces (API)
  • Performance Tuning: Practical knowledge of performance tuning, database schemas and Experience with SQL Server security

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
