Job Details

We are looking for an Engineering Technician to support various engineering projects and perform experiments related to anode development and optimization for the integration of new active materials in our Li-ion batteries. Candidates should have experience working with battery electrode processing and operating tooling associated with these processes, as well as operating powder characterization instruments. This candidate will be a key member of a cross-functional product development team focused on fabricating R&D Li-ion anodes for our high energy cells.

Responsibilities
  • >90% of time spent performing hands-on tasks which may include powder mixing, operation of hot machinery, powder characterization and optimization, electrode fabrication, data analysis
  • Operating and maintenance of electrode processing tooling and lab equipment
  • Work closely with engineers to execute experiments as instructed
  • Record electrode processing information tracking sheets
  • Handle air-sensitive and hazardous materials in a glove box, dry room, or fume hood
  • Prepare samples for characterization (SEM, titration, XRD, PSD, and more)
  • Helping keep the lab safe and efficient
  • Report any issues related to processes and assist in problem solving

Requirements
  • 2+ years experience working in a technical position in the battery field with experience in a laboratory setting
  • Experience battery electrode processing and fabrication
  • Above average manual dexterity and visual acuity in order to perform careful electrode processes, optimization and characterization
  • Working knowledge of Windows and MS Office
  • Ability and passion to perform hands-on tasks
  • Ability to stand and work around high temperature tools
  • Good communication skills
  • Hands-on lithium ion cell fabrication and testing preferred
